I love Ben’s take on life with aging. I’m about to be 43 and have no domestic responsibilities (no wife or kids). I enjoy my life and still feel like I’m in my late teens or early 20s, probably due to never having taken the domestic leap. Life for me consists of working 40 hours, having fun on the weekends, and listening to Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. Fuck everything else. None of us are promised another day. Might as well enjoy.

From Morocco, im like you my friend, these questions always come to my mind ,im now 44 years old , i listen to all kinds of rock music and i love soundgarden very much ,i feel that i want to remain a teenager, and in my teenage years in the 90 s, i wanted to grow up , i don't wear classic clothes, i always wear crazy and grunge clothes , i feel a maturity different from others , i mean the usual social maturity , but i always say that i only have a few years left and i will have completed half a century and when i talk to a girl and she tells me that she is 28 years old, im surprised because she seems to me physically old and mature i mean close to my age, then at that moment i know the year of her birth and i think that year i was listening to rock music and i smoke weed and i drink whisky and beer and im well aware of what is happening around me and what are my ambitions and steps in my future life , if God prolongs our lives, we will miss our forties when we reach our sixties and seventies ,just live your life and make the most of your time , memories are in a river that flows into the ocean of forgetfulness .💗🎶👍
@HorganBlatt8 ай бұрын
@@سيديمحمدالمغربيthere’s a balance tho. Live your life and be true to yourself, whatever that entails, but also don’t live in an imaginary land where everything changes but you. You’re NOT a teenager or even a 30-something anymore. Aging doesn’t mean stopping what you love and getting a mortgage, but you ideally do want to mature and become wiser. No one wants to be that Steve Buschemi meme. When people see you, they see a guy in his 40s, dressing like a teen.

Interesting stuff, part of the problem with modern music is that the internet has allowed everyone to exist and have something resembling a career but bands don't really get huge anymore. Which is a shame because those massive movements are what inspire people and change the world. And they're fun! Now the only thing that is massive is chart music, endlessly refined and formulated, for ever-increasingly beautiful robots to sing along to.
@samsk996 жыл бұрын
I get you. I miss the whole eras of music before the internet but I also think it's a good idea that everyone now can have a career. Imagine if the era today is pop or techno-pop stuff and you're not into it. You know that there are existing rock bands that you can find just because of the internet

chris mentions no one is taking the baton and running with it, Chevelle is some sh*t to be reckoned with. though they may not rock the foundation like nirvana or be a commercial jaugernaut showing up at the music awards(which in todays shallow world is a credit not a slight) they have a perfect balance of innovation, consistency, band identity, depth, energy, talent, integrity (they don't make sacharine garbage) and topical appeal to be the best band ( besides foo fighters and alice in chains who are tethered at the waist to the 90s associativly) to carry rock to the next level.

Chevelle? That's interesting. I used to be a major fan of them, I liked how most people didn't know who they were and that also meant they'd play at smaller venues. I even got to meet them and have a setlist signed from them. Regardless of that, I don't really think they're a force to be reckoned with.

1:45 is so eery to watch now, who knows what was going through Chris' mind when he decided to hang himself, I think it was a combination of depression, being on anxiety medication, stress, and struggling from relapsing in his addictions, Chris was a tortured soul who faced many demons, he is finally at peace now, many prayers and condolences to his wife and children who have to deal with the aftermath of his death, the focus in on raising those children now, nevertheless Chris touched countless lives and his music will live on forever, Rest in Peace
