@@dannytennial5311 Definitely an influence and similarity in style. Not uncommon with any musician. All the greats take something in their style from others (be it contemporaries or musicians they grew up idolizing), whether instrumentalists or vocalists. But I don't think you can say Teddy copied Marvin Jr. The end product of their singing is distinctively their own.

You said it, Monte. When we turned on the radio back then and listened to top 40 music it was awesome. Teddy was fabulous. There was so much great pop music and different genres...All the great motown and philly artists, singer/songwriters, soft rock, hard rock, we had it all. At that young age I thought it would go on forever....boy was I wrong.

This music style has Gospel roots and this certainly has its black roots! But MORE IMPORTANTLY like you said IT HAS TOGETHERNESS!!! I love America because of great American people like these and people like you that recognize God given blessings and TOGETHERNESSS! I Love the song "Wake up everybody" by Harold Melvin & The Blue notes. It's too bad America is going back to sleep, quickly forgetting its greatness in Art, Moral Values and The lessons left in the arts like music like that song.. America is quickly overcoming racism only to go "come American People of all creeds, skins, tongues, nationality's and let us sin together equally.".. I miss your generation sir... We truly are doomed in ours..

And to think, there are those that dismiss these grooves as merely Disco?! Thereby robbing themselves of the enjoyment of the arrangements, instrumentality, and varied voices coming together in a groovin’ song story. I said it in several words, but Mz Thompun, before me, said it in one--Soul is the word.

I remember a summer evening in '72 I was driving along and turned on the radio ... then this song came on and it stopped me in my tracks. I pulled the car over and was hearing the supurb sound of the first disco song ever released. Good God it changed my life. I was going "whoooah, what the hell is this ??" I then hitchhiked to their first L.A. apperance on the west coast at the ROXY on the Sunset Strip. I was right in front of the stage and they were, and remain, excellent ...

Was 16 yrs.old when this came out in early 1973. Vietnam had a cease fire and funk - adelie- disco was hitting it big all across the USA! The early 70s started s craze that made Saterday Night Fever explode by 1976-77. 3 piece suits and flared pants at bottom of pants in dress only. Semi- wide ties and semi- wide lapels. And , by 1981 that had changed too. Wrap and breakdancing set the hip/hop stage!
