I'm aiming to be a writer. I finished my first novel more than half a year ago, and Aviators music really helped me with inspiration, so I guess I can thank him for that. 6th of March is the aprox date of when I will know if my book has been recieved by the publisher I want. If it works, then the 6th of march will definitely be one of if not the best day of my life

I don't know how Avi manages to do it, but every song he drops perfectly reflects how do I feel at any given time... Just look Recently I've been having an enormous mental breakdown (to the point where I've decided to go to therapist) about my future, about future in general and all of that... And these lyrics "Are you speaking for yourself or your pain? Do you sleep in the silence to wane the passing shame? You are more than what your history made you" "And your feel misunderstood Not succeeding like you should But the game says you aren't strong enough Work hard enough" Are something I felt way too strongly. But not only these lyrics, the whole song sent a barrage of shivers down my spine (That's not to say I feel worse due to the song or anything, every drop instantly makes my day better - no matter how f*cked up it was) but... The very last lyrics (excluding chorus) are something that... That caused tears to fall down my face... "You've been blaming friends you knew But we all are victims too Restricted by the ghosts of days Long passed away" That friends' part... It brought a lot of painful memories back, but also helped me realize quite few things so... After all these long talk... I just wanted to say... Thank You, Avi. Thank You for your content that is constantly getting better and Thank You for the songs I can relate to on a deeply personal level ❤

I think this one is my favorite, out of all your songs. There's lots of songs about dystopias, or fantastical worlds, or hopelessness. And they're all deep and meaningful and beautiful, and this one manages to be all of them and none of that at the same time. This isn't a dystopias in the traditional sense, it's just a world governed by hatred and old traditions. It sounds like it's full of propaganda, deceit, pride, and a sense of "if you just work hard enough, you can do anything! Just look at what Bill Gates did". But Everytime you try, something pulls you down and away. You're not Bill Gates. Even if you had all his talent, whose to say you'd have any of the same opportunities he had? And it's not like you don't have other talents, and it's not like you're not a hard worker. You try and try and when you get pushed down again and again, it's always your fault. You just Didn't Work Hard Enough. "If your great grandfather could work nineteen hours everyday, why can't you?" And in that frustration, that anger, it would be so easy to be awful, wouldn't it? You described the world as not having the protagonists best interests at heart, and I can't help but notice a few similarities between the song and our world. Excuse my dramatics, but I don't think this is a question of whether or not this is a dystopia. It's whether or not it's a fantasy.

Symptoms of Narcissism, as quoted from Pysch Central : - A grandiose sense of self-importance - Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, or brilliance - Belief that one is inherently "special" and/or unique - A very strong sense of entitlement, e.g. unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with one's expectations
@andrasadam8256
@andrasadam8256 5 жыл бұрын
@@rhonanbrownfield816 While this is true, we should not forget that without some degree of sense of self-importance, fantasies of a better future, a little bit of ego and the desire for achieving more and more we cannot go forward, neither individually or as a species. It only becomes unhealthy or narcissistic when it is way overdone. I have to agree with OP, that we live in an unfair world, where the largest part of the population (especially outside of Europe and the US) does not get the same opportunities to educate themselves and to achieve the same personal and professional growth that we have here. And even in the developed regions of the world, life is still not fair, as OP said "not having the protagonists' (to be specific, the individuals') best interests at heart". I don't think the OP is narcissistic, at least based on this comment.

It's a mind trap. You shouldn't want to be like Bill Gates. If you value yourself in relation to others it doesn't matter if you follow old or new ways. You become a cog in the machine. Revolutions, change is part of the same old machine. You are more than your history made you, when you know your history. Mistakes, errors, traps, cycles. If you don't you will be doomed to repeat the cycle. And nothing will be changed, only asses on chairs, who is rich and who is poor. In these terms, we've not advanced ever since stone age. Ever since first human society was formed. Greed, envy and struggle for more resources, struggle for dominance. It is who we are. When you know it you don't need to rebel, to cry out against injustice. You make your own justice, you find your own greed, your own envy, and what resources matter to you. You define what dominance is. Rejecting it is potinless, accept but define it yourself. Become greedy for kindness, envy virtues, struggle for happiness. Dominate others by changing thier mind, not by forcing thier compliance.

I find it fascinating how different people interpreted the song's message in significantly different ways. I viewed it as an attempt to warn against nationalism, someone else found it relatable to their individual life, there's a 3rd interpretation that this song is a warning against authoritarianism and the importance of individual action, and even such interpretation that those who want us to forget our traditions and our ancestors actually just want to control us. I'm sure there are more interpretations I just wrote down the ones I saw

The first three are pretty connected, though, aren't they? Nationalism and authoritarianism tend to be two aspects of the same society, and that society is likely to shape the people who raise us. The last is more divergent, but while culture and history aren't necessarily authoritarian, traditionalism tends to be tied with nationalism too, so it may be an opposite angle to the same broad message. I guess that's my interpretation. It speaks to all these things at once, like an epic sci-fi story where personal revelations will change the world.

I can't describe how much I love all of your songs Avi. Every time you drop a new song I stop doing whatever I was doing at the moment and go quickly to listen. You are the only musician from who I can listen ANY song and got almost all songs from. I sometimes keep coming back to the old ones too. Today I was going through almost all of your songs, feeling some lovely nostalgia and drowning in your wonderful music. When anyone asks who is my fav singer, I quickly answer 'Aviators' You may be an indie musician, but I like you the most, there is no other singer I'm this excited to listen to. Yes I listen to manyyy types of songs and many musicians, but you are the only one who I follow and excitedly wait for a new song. Other songs I mostly just stumble upon or get recommended to by a friend. I love your voice, it's the perfect one that I like. I hope we can brake the cycle someday. I fear it will be the doom of us if we don't. To me, it evokes visions of a struggling society with the potential of improving and becomming something greater. But it first needs to kill beliefs of the past, mistakes it should stop commiting. And once the outmoded system that is not of use anymore falls, a new dawn will rise to bask in the light of a better life for the members of said society.

Not gonna lie. I keep coming up with more scenes for my stories when I hear your music. I don't know how to say this but your music was made for my story or...maybe my story was made for your music? I don't know. I'm just so stunned.
