Thanks for taking the time to do these product demonstration and discussions. A lot of things are not "sexy" enough for people to want to make videos about but I think the videos will be useful over time.

Really love those Hide-A-Mic concealers. They do a great job of isolating the mic and reducing rustle. I have found though that the mic can slip out on the concealer from time to time, especially when the talent is moving a lot. So I always make sure the sticky I put on the back of it overlaps onto the mic rubber just a little. Always does the job!

It also depends on the lav you use too. Some good better than others.

@@SoundSpeeds Ah yes definitely. It's Cos-11s I usually use. Their thin form leads to the risk of being pulled out. Like I said though, with that quick fix, it works very well!

I used to make the z-clips with elastic and wig clips for holding my mic when I was working in the theater. I really wish they sold these pre-made ones back in those days. I remember the elastic was a pain to get through those small holes.

Yes! And the size is usually smaller on the Clips too.

Would these techniques in general work as well for a lav mic that has a side-facing capsule (e.g. Rode Lavalier II, VT500)? I'm interested to learn if an end-address or side-address would work better under a shirt or tie or if they require different techniques to reduce muffling the sound.

You have to experiment and find what works best for you and your style. As long as you play the polar pattern correctly and it's quiet, you're good. Try it.

Hi related to concealing mics under clothing, would you say that a white or beige colored mic is more useful when hiding mics e.g. Under see through or thin white clothing ?

That's depends. I usually try to closer match the color of what I'm sticking the microphone to. A white concealer under a white shirt worn on someone with dark skin may silhouette the lav and cause it to stand out. If the shirt is in any way see thru, that will be your reality. This is why sticking lavs directly on a shirt may present a problem. In addition to ruffling the material as you stick the lav on, you may cause the lav to stand out very clearly.

What is the best LAV mic if you only had LAv and no boom?

That's a matter of opinion. My favorite is the DPA 6060
