I used a cold oven. Came out great! Actually, this was the 2nd time I made this cake. I sliced it up, wrapped each slice (@ 16) individually in press n seal plastic wrap and froze them. Since we're trying to cut back on our sugar intake this allowed us to have a slice every now and then. It lasted @ a month (for a household of 4) and each slice, down to the last one was still as fresh and moist as the first!!

@Dee Mill , Hi, I was wondering about the cold oven too, did you change the baking time or leave the same? Thank you
@deemill95923 жыл бұрын
@@praypetsrraptured2506 I kept the baking time the same...1 hr +40 mins.

I wonder why a cold oven would better . Does it make the more moistened ?

@@SouthernSassyMama Yummy. It just doesn't get any better than a pound cake. I've never made one with the whipped egg whites but I'm gonna try it. Bad thing about a pound cake, it's just so good I eat too much then that "pound" shows up on my hind end. Thanks for such great recipes. Stay well.

I found a recipe like this years ago. It was from an editor of the Washington Post's mom. That recipe sifted the flour 3 times and it also included almond extract. The best pound cake I have had in my life. Everyone always begged for the recipe.

OMG. Pound Cake. SO simple yet SO decadent. An all-time fave. On my list! Thank you!!! :D (I love it plain but sometimes spread jam/jelly on top of a slice & broil it slightly- YUM)

I make a sour cream pound cake from an old recipe of my Mom's but I have never heard of adding egg whites or lemon juice. Sometimes I add semi sweet Nestle's chocolate chips. My grandkids love it this way. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Great topped with fruit, Cool Whip or ice cream! This cake freezes well too. Yummy.

Was it a cool oven or preheated? There is a difference; some people say they bake their pound cakes in a cold oven. I noticed you didn't say. Preheat... yet you did say 300* for 40 minutes... thanks. I enjoyed your video. New subscriber.

Very "fluffy"...I'm sure that is not the word, but that is what came to mind lol And not too sweet to me. Also it is a really big cake, tall. Next time I make it I will have some strawberries and whipped cream-I feel like this would be delicious served as strawberry shortcake :) have a great week. I appreciate you watching!
