A note for everyone doing this: Fog can also be used to 'fake' sunshafts and glare effects if done correctly. I'm currently using a bright green to dark green fog in my Forest level, creating kind of a sunshaft/sunglare effect, it looks damn awesome.

What makes 3kliksphilip tutorials so special, is he doesn't waffle on for ages about the same thing, he just tells you what you want to know, then goes on with the next topic. Ive seen plenty of tutorials that just frustrate me, because its a 9 min video that would take 1 min if 3kliksphilip did it.

Thanks 3kliksphilip for all your videos, you are a great teacher and an inspiration to your subscribers and viewers. I have been following your sdk tutorials and enjoying making maps for cs. I have always wanted to make levels and dreamt of making computer games but I never thought I would be able to do it, so thanks again for helping. Have you ever used the sandbox for crysis? apparently it comes with the crysis DVD I am thinking getting it. And how can we dowload your maps for cs or Hl2d?

Great stuff Philip I really enjoy your video tutorials on mapping and your juggling skills. (I also juggle but not quite as good as you!) Anyway I had a question for mapping... In both this video and your "Source Water Types" video, I notice it looks as if there is an ocean there but in hammer it's just a tiny room. I was wondering how to make it look as if the water extends forever into the distance. Can't find a tutorial on this anywhere. Thanks and keep making these. They're great!

Is there anyway to have multiple types of fog on a map? Like I have a coastal part of a map like that. But then there is a underground part. I don't want the same type of fog down at that part.
@Ciaurrix7 жыл бұрын
Did they ever add a way to change fog color based on a direction? For instance, if you had fog with a sunset, you'd want the fog towards the sun to be more orange/red than fog in the opposite direction, which would be the same color as the sky opposite the sun.
@Volian04 жыл бұрын
yes, it's possible, you need to specify: fogcolor2, fogdir and fogblend

Fog is getting inside my houses :o what to do? I tried doing trigger to disable fog when enter a house but that didn't quite work either. My houses are dense and there are no leaks/holes in the walls / doors, and walls go way underground (and there is floor/rooftop also).

How do I make my env_fog_controller fog less dense? I'd like to add it for my beach map since it does make far away items look more realistic by adding a fog but in some places my fog is just too much and I can't find anything for making it less thick.
@tshai10 жыл бұрын
use the Fog Max Density parameter. You can choose any value between 0 and 1. So ex. you can use 0.5

I believe this is your only fog tutorial, so I'll just post this here. My fog works perfectly fine, and it looks really nice. However, whenever I look somewhere or stand somewhere specific on my map, the light seems to readjust itself. The sky either becomes too dark or too light in areas, and occasionally the water's reflections break now as if there was a leak in my skybox (which there wasn't, I checked). Is this normal?
