Sorry to hear about Marvin’s aunt. Your floors are beautiful. Sourdough isn’t always foolproof. My house in Texas is on pier and beam, so it gets drafty and that will impact the sourdough. I’m a bread maker, but I usually make yeast bread and/or rolls. Your walls are a pretty color. Jordan sounds like a really sweet boy. The Walton’s have always been a favorite of mine.

I am enjoying your videos. I just went back to Lancaster last year for an Amish funeral. The husband of my closest girlfriend. He was 89, yet we were surprised. And yes. It is more like a reunion than a funeral. Everyone at the funeral, all 400+ were Old Order or New Order but me. I was Mennonite but now nondenominational Christian. But, I guess we really are still what we were inside. Do you play Chase the Rat? Some Amish call it marbles, a little like Sorry. We spent many evenings playing Chase the Rat.

I bake sourdough bread weekly , it looked to me like your starter wasn’t as bubbly which would make a denser loaf . Lisa Farmhouse on Boone KZbin channel has really good sourdough recipes and makes it so easy .Also I love your wood floors !

I'm sorry to say that my sourdough bread-making skills are very hit or miss, so I can't help much. Though, I am pretty good at making pizza dough from the discard! Lol. Mary, you're a very skilled cook. I'm sure you'll be mastering it in no time. I'm sorry to hear about your family member passing away. It looks very beautiful back in Michigan. I'll have to give some thought to the story or recipe and get back to you. Thank you for sharing, and God Bless! 🙂

It’s hard to let your kids grow up and stretch out their wings. We as mothers pray that we have prepared them to thrive and succeed. As human beings, we are not perfect, we know we serve a faithful God.🙏🏻💕

Hi you all, you brought back such a sweet memory for me on this video as we used to do the Walton goodnight thing, there was 8 of us and my second youngest sister was called Elisabeth so she would be the last and all at the same time we would say GOODNIGHT ELISABETH, so funny. And Mary I as so sorry I have never emailed you as we talked some time ago and I have been meaning to send you some Scottish recipes, so I promise I will soon. And I sent the wood box video to my nephew who has just put a wood burner in his house and he is going to make one as he has a lot of old wood in his workshop, and he gave me some wood and I am going to make a stove top cover, I have never done anything that big before, so this will be fun. God Bless Ann xoxoxox

Hi Marvin and Mary, I can honestly say I’ve NEVER been able to make the sourdough ANYTHING work. Lol So I’m so over it! Not trying it again, so good luck I know you can do it 🙂 Aww I’m so sorry about your aunts passing. Looked so cold there in Mich. I love your white cabinets too Mary, someday I wish to have white ones also! I won’t hold my breath though lol. Stay safe, warm and God Bless ❤

😢sorry to hear about your aunt, love yalls videos. I rented that same kinda car when I started a new job, had to call the hubby to brag about how I don't even have to hold the steering wheel. I had the same thought as you, where was this car twenty some plus years ago, my children were always being bad when I drove, would of loved to be able to let go of the wheel and put them in there place. I guess they just liked to hear me yell 😅. Keep up the great vidoes yalls are doing.

So I have Glenda Groff’s other cookbook her first book but I didn’t buy the sourdough one although I use some of the recipes out of the first one!! My favorite bread to make is honey oat and I also do lots of bagels and pizza crust etc.! I have only once made an artisan loaf but I’d like to try that again!

Seven hours for a sourdough loaf is a bit short. It'll also show as not raised enough, and very dense inside. _(Which yours does in both.)_ In Germany we did sourdough rye _(Bauern Brot)._ Raise time for them is roughly 10 to 12 hours. If you're using all-purpose or all-purpose and whole wheat, the gluten develops quicker than if you've added in rye flour, so I'm guessing an hour or two less. I'd suggest letting yours rise for another hour and see what results you get. In general, the longer you let it rise, the fluffier and more sourdough taste it will have. But, letting rise too long and it'll get bubbles like ciabatta bread. Another factor that you could be seeing is your altitude. Your sourdough culture will be different. But, that's just a learning process.

I have best of luck with my sourdough...if I add my water or milk and sourdough first.....stir gently with wooden spoon....slowly add flour and little bit olive oil...I let mine rise in oven with light on....half hr then gently fold in 1 tsp salt....fold the salt in let rise one more half hr then put in my cast iron bread pan til double....and then I bake mine I don't use a weigh scale either....keep on you will master the sourdough.....

Hi from the Inverness ... Scottish Highlands.. This was great!! From a former chefs perspective, We were taught that baking and bread making are the sciences of the culinary world.. Weighing and measures are its foundations.. I would be making French toast with that bread.. Just great...Rose red homestead, a retired professor from the US dose a deep dive on sour dough and bread making ..See what you think!!! you tube land.. Have a look at the inexpensive method sou vide cooking of meat..helen rennie is a true master in explanation and method.. USA culinary teacher for home cooking.. you tube.. I have learned so much from her, as have some Michelin stared chefs from the comments.. Just normal very real. She also shows her failures.. The Lego was fun to see as this type of thing rarely happens with us or not with my nephews and family.. Kindness your way..Lochness Scottish Highlands..

I would suggest, if you have a scale that weighs in grams, to try weighing you ingredients. Making bread in general and especially sourdough, I have found that weighing is so much more accurate and gives better results much more consistently. Sourdough is tricky. I w eigh my flour and water for starter also because the hydration of the starter makes a difference in how much flour it will take for the bread. Try it.🌝 I am by no means a pro at it and it has taken me many attempts to make a decent loaf and sometimes it still doesn't turn out, epecially since I also mill my own flour which makes it even trickier.🌝
