I made these donuts today-well yesterday and today since this is a two day process. I was a little concerned because my dough was not expanded at all when I took it out of the fridge this morning like yours was but I rolled it out and cut out the donuts and holes anyway. My starter (named Pokey) is generally very lively and I trust it to leaven my breads. I left them to rise for about 3 and a half hours before we fried them. I made the glaze as directed too. The family said that they love my sourdough baking but these donuts really hit it out of the park. Thanks for this recipe!

I love your style of teaching, so far your biscuits were a big hit. I’m gonna try the donuts next. What do you do with all of that oil, save it for next time or toss it.
@dailysourdough2 жыл бұрын
you can absolutely put it back in the container once it has cooled and store it in the fridge for next time!

Hello lovely lady! :D We just found your channel and this will be the first recipe we are going to try as my handsome husband has just gotten his sourdough starter to the point where he's happy with it enough to use it in things. So far, the sourdough bread that's he's made has improved with each loaf and we're looking forward to trying these and checking out your other videos. :D God bless you. Have an awesome day my friend! :D

Thank you for your channel, I really enjoy it and have learned a lot. My question is;- can I freeze these doughnuts in their uncooked stage? And, if so do I need to thaw and allow time for the dough to recover or just go ahead and bake right after thawing?
@dailysourdough2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for being here! You can freeze this dough. My advice would be to freeze on a baking sheet until hard and then put them into a zip loc, that way they will not stick together while freezing. Then when you are ready to cook, I would put them back on a baking sheet and cover with plastic wrap to let them thaw out and rise a bit. If you try this you'll have to let me know how it turns out!

That looks delicious and I will definitely going to try, just one question. Do you think I could make these in an air fryer? providing I cover them with a small amount of oil before I place them inside the fryer itself.
@dailysourdough2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you could! I don't have an air fryer so I've never tried, but I don't see why that wouldn't work!

What kind of oil do you use? Would peanut oil be ok?
@dailysourdough2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely use peanut oil, I just tend to stay away from it because of potential free radicals and oxidation that happens when the oil is heated. I used avocado oil here because it has a high smoking point, coconut oil is really great too! But peanut oil will absolutely work and taste delicious:)

Could that same doughnut dough be used for making bagels?
@dailysourdough2 жыл бұрын
You could give it a try! Bagel dough is much stiffer than the doughnut recipe, so it may turn out differently. I am preparing a bagel recipe that will be available soon!

Can I ask what kind of cup measurements are you using? Is it the American type cup measure? You just seem to have a lot of ingredient for the amount of cups you are using
@jordanwallin40472 жыл бұрын
It would be nice if you included metric measurements
