Never thought I'd see this game again. Think the final score was something like 45-24, a big score in those days. All Blacks fan through and through but love watching the Boks.

The Boks were starved of consistent international rugby in the 1970s and 80s due to international sporting boycotts imposed on them. These world XV games were also played in the 80s to give the Boks some international play. We can only speculate on how good Bok rugby may have been during this era. Personally I think Nass Botha was a true legendary player for the Boks during their isolation era.

There was some pretty good players in that World XV as well; JPR, Gareth Edwards, Paul McLean, Tane Norton, Jean Pierre Rives. Stofberg and Germishuys knew the way to the try line. Thanks McLook.

I remember Robbie Blair, Wolmarans, Dawie Snyman. There is old Morne DuPlessis, always looking beat tired, but what a playmaker, and was Gerald Bosch at flyhalf?

@@bolshoefeodor6536 Robbie Blair was 10 and scored 21 points. A record then. Hermanus Potgieter, Peter Whipp, Jan Boland Coetzee

That's Bill Osborne who is currently the chairman of the New Zealand rugby union, I think he is the first Maori to hold that position. Bill was the strongman of the New Zealand backline for many years known for his ruthless intensity on the field and a pretty calm and humble man off it. His nephewGlen Osborne was also an extremely talented rugby player who was the fullback for the 95 World but just happened to come along at the same time as Jonah Lomu Christian Cullen and Jeff Wilson unfortunately, but still I think Glenn was as good as any of them.

@@sonnyblack6121 Thanks for the reply, I'll look up Bill Osborne, I like getting to know the older generations of rugby players. I remember Glen Osborne, a more than decent player, reminds me of Stephan Larkham (Wallaby #10), talented, elusive runner.
