One of the most compelling Lions Tests ever. Soak up the action and relive the drama from that memorable night in Durban which happened 25-years-ago today.

Sad how many are no longer with us, Ruben Kruger, Joost van der Westhuisen and Tom Smith. Three of the best.

The great Neil Jenkins was magnificent in this game and the series of course. Neil’s kicking out of this world.

what this and other reels show is that Tim Rodber is massively under appreciated. Never hear from him in the media
@SjS7912 жыл бұрын
I thought this. He was a bit before my time so didn’t really know what he was capable of. Him at 8 and Dallaglio at 6 looked like a dream combo

Rodber was a good player, no doubt, but the stars of the first two tests were the front row, Smith,Wood and Wallace. Took on men twice their size and made them look small. Unfortunately we lost Tom Smith earlier this year, in my view the best forward Scotland has ever produced - 6 Lions tests (over two tours) is testimony to that.

One of my favourite players, but he did blow rather hot and cold. At his best, he was fantastic. This tour, he got close to his form in the first test of 1994, known as "Rodber's match", but when something went wrong (like getting sent off, or getting penalised for the tackle on Colin Charvis that led to Scott Gibbs' wonder try at Wembley) he seemed to lose form and confidence.

With the background to know of how South Africa won the World Cup 2007 by the kicks of Montgomery, incredible how far he was 1997 from the ability he had years later.

He was superb, but watching the game again the Boks should have won but for their woeful goal kicking

The great thing about the Lions is that it brings all of our warring tribes together as one.

I remember watching this at the pub, something like a midday kick off UK time. That social continued through to Tyson v Holyfield 2, the ear biting one. Called it a night about 6am. 18 hours. Needless to say I didn’t get to see the rugby re-run for a couple of days! 😂

Would’ve loved to have seen this live, I was nervous watching the highlights even though I know the full time result 😂

I never enjoy watching a game live when I have an “interest” in one of the teams (for me, that means The Lions or England). Just too nervous. But I love watching the replay irrespective of who won because all my tension has gone.
@Arianrhod62 жыл бұрын
I watched it live. I was on a stag night in Dublin - I’m Welsh I should say, but in this bar in Temple Back there was a stack of us Welshmen, obviously a lot of Irish but also there were Scots and English. A great afternoon….✌️👍

@@Arianrhod6 I was in Australia for the last 2 tests of 2013. We go to Oz every year anyway for family - to the extent that we have a house, car and the obligatory tinnie over there. We went into Sydney the day before that test and the whole area around the ferry terminal, the Opera House was just red. And everyone was so brilliant - great atmosphere. I know that there are people who want any team but England to win any game but all I saw, heard and said was that it was the Lions first, second and last. My son out there got the tickets over there and so we were sat in the Aussie section. So, 3 in red amongst a sea of gold. When it became clear who was going to win early in the second half, quite a few Aussies started to leave; I think you could say that we questioned them quite vociferously about their exit plans….

The rucks were a real contest as were the scrums. The modern game is reffed to the point that teams are scared to have the ball.

South Africa lost this mainly because of the awful goal kicking

How many times were the lions offside in the rucks. Everytime
@gus80246 ай бұрын
Coached by 'Creamy' Telfer, of course they were offside. John Jeffrey made a career of it and he was albino white - not that hard to spot you'd think!
