yes, such a great song!! the whale in this song is a single whale called the 52-Hertz/52 Blue whale, whose song is only able to be heard in 52 hz(hertz), whereas normally all the other whales sing in a different frequency in the ocean, except this one.

Whalein has a double meaning, that what's I think, like the one you said. Blind, lonely and no one listening to them and their music. Also it's about the whale 52, a lonely whale that only be able heard on 52hz, so that whale can't be heard to other whale. This specific whale use a frequency of 52 Herz, that no other whale can "hear", that's why she is so lonely. They are liken them to that whale. Look what I found: "Is the 52-hertz whale still alive? The fact that the whale has survived and apparently matured indicates it is probably healthy. you know what this concert of live which is 2016 , yoongi saw his parents on this concert and hes crying because his family’s just accepted him to go to his dream after yoongi tryhard to proved that he can do it . Whales usually sing at a frequency of 10-15 hertz, but 52Blue sings at 52 hertz, much higher than other whales. It can't communicate with any other whale because no whale can hear at that frequency. That's why 52Blue is called the most lonely creature in the world. I think the world upon hearing BTS wound up ultimately connecting to their idiosyncratic aspects at a quicker pace than Idol platform dominated South Korea. Keep in mind this song was only a few years in. Groups singing about emotions surrounding romance there were a dime a dozen with more cropping up constantly. The reality of the industry is only a few of these can truly capture the public's heart though fanbases for non-top groups certainly function as dedicated islands. My take is Bang Si Hyuk had the iconoclasm to take BTS international super early on and to expand on that. Non-Koreans who were less exposed to the ocean filled with 100's of groups found BTS compelling. But in Korea, which in real terms is the source of validation for a Korean group, there may have been a sense that much of what they were trying to do was mostly limited to ARMY. So BTS felt like they were whaliens in their own country.
