South Jetty - Aerial Views

Protecting the entrance to Humboldt Bay in Eureka, CA, yhe South Jetty was originally built in 1889, and updated many times since. In November 13 2016 we has a super moon which brought high tides and waves with it, though I think I missed the tide today, as the waves weren’t too big. It’s a great place to hike around, fish, and just relax.

Me and my family lived on the south jetty for years, once in a big trailer, a school bus, a camper.....there was no law, no police, it was wide open, I used to carry a sawed off shotgun in a shoulder holster ( just because I could)......the drug dealers would put,put on little scooters every morning selling or trading their wares.....At on time there was about 500 people living there,,, we had a church, a paramedic lived down there.....Lots of good times, of course the citizens in town (Loleta and Eureka) hated us, thought we were all a bunch of broke bums, which is not true everyone had some sort of income.......Nice video, brought back a lot of memories

Looks so peaceful but can be VERY dangerous. Waves can take you into the ocean. At one time entire cars were taken into it.

Had a couple of friends swept off the south jetty by a big wave. They made it back out of the water though. Can be a very dangerous place

I used too work for the Franklin brothers(Bill and Ben)that had the hauling contract for those BIG BOULDERS.They were located hwy 101 north,Arcata.🏰🏰
