These stories play the beginning of every episode on the DVDs of these seasons if you turn on the commentary feature. The video is literally just pieces of the episode (maybe only the beginning of each episode, ive never seen the video). From what Matt says at the beginning you can tell they are asked to record this pretty soon after the season is finished taping, and all at once for the whole season.

The commentaries are made to be audio only. All these commentaries that you hear for every episode of every season, were specifically made to be included on the DVD's. And so on the DVD's, you would have an option to turn on the commentary. They were like a bonus feature included on the DVD's. ___ A lot of other shows would do this too such as The Simpsons. Though with Matt and Trey, they preferred just making their commentaries short for each episode rather than watching the whole thing and say nothing of relevance. And normally, their commentaries usually would take place soon after when the season is over. More or less. But never too too long after. As to where they do their commentaries, probably at their studio? Don't really know and not all that important to be honest. Anyway hoped all this helped! 🙂👍

Some sort of ritual was performed on him by the cult. The 'panel' was in the Necronomicon, a child can be seen in the middle of a Cthulhu Cult sigil as a ritual is performed. Based on what the goth kids say in reference to said page, it's likely that this was a failed attempt to summon Cthulhu which instead gave Kenny, the intended sacrifice, immortality.

The Goth kid narrates over that panel: “for years cultists have tried to bring them [immortals] into our world.” I assume that at the end when Kenny’s mother says “we should’ve never gone to that cult meeting,” the implication is, Kenny was used in one such ritual as a vessel for an immortal. So perhaps he is an Old One? Or as you suggest, a failed attempt whereby the baby was cursed with infinite death.
