"J Mart" is a reference to "K Mart", a popular department store in the US at the time associated with being for lower income people. I think it's gone out of business now. and condolences for your brother. I can't imagine how tough that would be.

I guess "JMart" is supposed to be KMart. KMart was a really popular Department store when I was a kid but after WalMart exploded they all eventually closed down.
