This might be one of my favourite South Park specials yet and the amount of hilarious and commentary on both the exploitation of healthcare, insurance and food corporations exploits people's desires to be healthy plus the intensity and that truck battle was sick asf. Seeing Kyle genuinely care to help Cartman even if its just out of spite for the healthcare system was surprisingly wholesome Btw Skinny Cartman is so cursed and surreal.

@dcworld4349

@@loreaver3882 They always get away with it in one of two ways. Either people will freak out like when Michelle Obama stared the Let's move campaign, that was about trying to get kids to find any activity the enjoyed that required them to get some work out and a more balanced diet. And Fox News along with other conservative outlets said that she was trying to tell parents that she knew what was better for their childrens health. Which probably wasn't just because she was a democrat, I can see it being pressure from their advertisers. Then the other way is people running for whatever office they are trying to get into will start out by giving examples like: "We can acknowledge that there are things around health that is a personal responsibility but you shouldn't be forced to sell your house to afford life saving care. When you have done everything right, from treating your body well and never once been late on an insurance payment. If you get sick it shouldn't be legal for the companies to look for loopholes to get out of paying" or they'll say "we can no longer stand by and allow a system where a person working a dangerous job and loses two fingers in an accident. Have to choose which finger to save and will often be forced to pick the cheapest finger, it's outrages." They get into office and like in Untouchables, a faceless no name lobbyist steps inside, hands them an envelope full of money in the form of contributions or donations with the promise of more. And instead of giving it back and throwing them out of their office, they take it. And their rhetoric is never brought up again. Maybe insurance companies should be forced to have a third party who is responsible for the payouts rather than them working for the company directly and risk losing their job. For doing what is in their job description.

In Russia, things are also bad with this. It is free, but at the same time very mired in bureaucracy, incompetent doctors and a shortage of personnel due to expensive education at the medical university. To get to a good doctor, you have to go to a big city, where there is one doctor for the entire region. Medicines are also expensive. And people often do not trust health insurance, since there have been many cases where companies did not pay money under some excuse. Winning a case against an insurance company is not easy and requires money too.

@@TheMeloettaful Yeah it's better to tackle important issues like celebs being stupid and Royals seeking attention than it is to tackle a diabolical racket that's deliberately creating an unhealthy nation riddled with health issues - leading to more citizens needing medical care and more people dependent on medication - increasing the profit margin of Big Pharma, insurance companies, political lobbyist, the few multinationals that control the food products on the shelfs [there's only 4 of them go ahead and check]. They should have done this a while ago. I don't get why it took celebs forcing a scarcity in diabetes medication to finally get them to tackle this but I'm glad they did it and I love how they did it. Maybe you are right that they were waiting for the right time. I have to admit they blended the many issues that feed into one another seamlessly.

Tbh most people living right now still think (believe the lie) that sugar is "generally recognized as safe". Same with carbohydrates in general, some people even say we need them when there are millions of people out there eating a keto/carnivore diet, barely any carbs at all for decades without getting fat and sick. It's just a more hidden problem, the whole world is brainwashed and conditioned from a young age to become a sugar addict some more so some less so but still. I'm just so glad they made this episode to "expose" both the sugar industry and the medical system.

So for any of you wondering, Semaglutide, comes from a class of drugs that work by activating the Glucagon-like peptide receptors (GLP-1) to increase the amounts of insulin that is released from the pancreas. It also has an additional side effect of slowing down the rate at which food can leave your stomach and enter your intestines, called delayed gastric emptying. This then means that you feel full for longer after each meal and suppresses your appetite, which is why people lose weight while taking the drug without really even trying. So it can help treat Type 2 Diabetes while also helping someone to lose weight, which also helps with the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes. Semaglutide is more commonly known by the name Ozempic.

NO, the medicine doesnt do that. it's just Randy thinking it does. Ive been on everyone they mentioned in the episodes. They can give you "stomach issues" but not a "high". They work mostly by slowing digestion so that food stays in your stomach longer and doesnt pass through you so fast. This leads to you not feeling hungry because you still have it in you so you eat less because you are simply not hungry (and also you fill up faster when you do eat) and therefore lose weight.

So I'm extremely overweight and in my mid thirties now... I haven't been able to get this drug yet. But I was diagnosed with ADHD and went onto vyvance which is also an appetite suppresent... and holy shit dude. Before the vy I had no idea I had foods I disliked or liked. I mean I knew in concept I 'disliked' food... but I still ate it all. Like fruit cake. I got a couple of free fruit cakes, Iknew I 'didn't like it', but still I managed to eat both of them very quickly. But now on the vy? It was the most fucking big shock to discover I actually DO dislike certain foods. The biggest shock to put things I liked away from shopping and actually forget I bought them... like, a week later, oh yeah... I forgot I bought that! Before the vyvance I NEVER could forget about food. I'm three years on the vy now and still trying to figure out what foods I dislike and still forgetting about delicious food I bought in the freezer or whatever, like food is no longer first and foremost in my head, still able to buy good food and expect it to last for weeks. Before vy I couldn't have ever bought a tub of ice cream and just leave it in the freezer, only getting a small amount out of it at a time, or flat out forget I put it there in the first place lol... before vy that ben and jerry would have been gone by the end of the day. And ...I LOVE snacking on salad. Like. Wtf. But for some reason all of a sudden my brain craves to snack on salad because it actually tastes great. So yeah. I don't know how or why but it's pretty clear my brain has been really fucked up about food intake. I really hope my doc can get me on those injections to help reprogram this shit. And hopefully with a gastric sleeve I might be able to actually get to a better weight and start living life. It was actually kind of surprising to see southpark actually take this angle. A really welcome one. Growing up with Southpark and cartman being taunted for his weight... I hate to admit it but it really fucked with my head. Esp as I am ALSO 'big boned' LMAO ....apparently if I can lose this weight I've got a hella strong body for a woman and these thick ass bones might make me a beast of a fighter.

actually getting drugs through mexico or canada or even cuba is hundreds of times cheaper and is the exact same medicine. Wegovy in the USA is 1200 a month, yet its only 400 a month in canada. Insurance is a complete scam in the US.

Yeah, this entire episode/special is a giant middle finger to the US healthcare system, including Medicaid, Medicare and Obamacare. My gf has a whole slew of medical issues and she constantly has to fight with her insurace to get them to cover the medication she needs, or if she needs surgery for anything (which thankfully she hasn't had to have anything major in a couple of years). It's really sad that the US healthcare system is at the state where if you actually _NEED_ something that could save your life, they drag their feet and refuse to cover it, but if you want them to cover the cost of you or your children getting their genitals mutilated, they're more than happy to do it. And yes, this episode was also one giant flip-off to Lizzo, and yes, Lizzo has harrassed people who work with her, and she's got into trouble for it.

The drug Randy took is diabetes medicine which has made it's name now as weight loss medication since it imitates the hormone that makes you not hungry. Downside to it is that your body, similar with steroids stops producing this hormone naturally and you will need to continue taking it rest of your life since you can never veel full after eating

I didn't get the stormy daniels reference. I know she's an adult film star... what's the joke? (Is it something like a 304, where I found out that it means HOE because 304 written on a calculator spells HOE upside down? I was like... how juvenile, I grew up of calculator words when I was in the 9th grade, and I'm 36 years old).

Just my guess but Im pretty sure they where forced to stop the fat jokes in some way and in typical South Park fusion like when they where forced not to show Muhammad anymore and have Cartman renounce H****r they made a great special out of it. Hope they don’t change to much or it will be Simpsons Family Guy ect. all over again.

Honestly a pretty good special for real, felt a bit like imagination land with the cereal mascot but maybe that making fun of Nextflix’s movie about poptarts and the mascots of companies are real, knowing Matt and Trey this could definitely be it, or just something they found funny to represent the sugar industry lol wich is very probable too haha. But hey, loved having your reaction this early man keep up that grind 😁
