Not everyone’s Tourette’s shows a clear pattern , the more tics or complex tics someone has the harder it can be to find a pattern , and if someone’s Tourette’s has echolalia etc or easily gets new tics the patterns might not stay the same long enough to be recognisable .

I was actually impressed at how this episode captured tourettes syndrome. I myself have tourettes syndrome. Mine isn't like there's. Mine is that when I touch my shoulder or something, I have to do it with the other hand. Like if my ear touches my shoulder, I do it with the other ones. My best friend is the same way. When South Park did an episode on Asbergers though, I got pissed at first, since I have that condition, and they made it seem like it's a made up condition, but when I rewatched it, the episode was better then I remember.

They were joking, of course they don't believe it's a made-up condition :)

I thought the Asperger's episode was a joke on the incorrect spelling, i.e Assburgers, although now, it's classed as ASD, so it's not as relevant.

Sure you do. You have all the conditions dont you buddy

I think that you really misunderstood that episode regarding Asperger's. It was relevant in 2 very small ways. They've misdiagnosed Stan, and Cartman misheard it as "ass burgers". South Park isn't a PSA. They do take stances on issues, but many times a joke is just a joke. They've also shown that Jews wear a secret pouch full of gold around their necks.

@@ChilledfishStick I only realized those things on a second viewing. I'm just saying, that on first viewing, I thought they misrepresented an actual mental condition I and many others have. It was my mistake though.

Out of character because I don’t feel like switching to my personal acc: This episode genuinely made me cry- as someone who struggles with tics, and has a few of the tics here, such as the neck jerk and snaps, the “boop!” thing, along with other words that come out in the same way (including quotes from shows and movies I love, and a few swear words), but just knowing that we get representation like this- it makes me feel better about my tics- It makes me feel heard, seen, and noticed as a PERSON- It makes me feel so valid-

Copralilia effects only 1 of 10 people with Tourettes. This episode is still hilarious though.

Funny thing is that I just learned today that the swearing tic is real and South Park was not over exaggerating

@@The4angels9732 so it did reflect your life, you see I'm not a psycho to laugh at one's problems if it happens in real life, but as Chaplin said ones tragedy is for another comedy, south park creators did inject sense of humour which you must appreciate , it means his dad is an ass hole who divorced but still be around means it reflects his behaviour of still having his mom but he'll escape whenever his son comes to picture

This episode managed to make fun of tourettes in a tasteful way AND bring awareness to the reality of the disorder

though i don’t have tourette’s, i do have a couple of pretty minor tics (so the snap girl is pretty relatable, most people don’t even notice) but it gets frustrating for me when it leads to my inadvertently hurting myself because the tic went further than i thought or more intensely, because mine are mostly physical sometimes i accidentally hit things (including my head). it can get pretty painful, but i’m just glad i don’t have bad ones (and that they’ll probably fade in time, because of what they’re from).
