As a Spanish speaker, I find the Indonesian very similar in pronunciation, and therefore probably will be easy to learn Indonesian. Not only the R, but also the intonation they put in the syllables of most of the words they said. Also, they use the Roman alphabet to write. Thai on the other hand, the writing system is a true challenge :\

I really wonder what "Indonesian accent" is. Because there are tons of accents already in Indonesia. There is javanese accent, sundanese accent, betawi accent, banjarnese accent, etc. I often changed school, so I know someone from other part of the country pronounced something in english very differently from another person in other part of the country. So it's hard for me to imagine what truly is "Indonesian accent" as one accent.

Indonesia has many many many races, each has their own dialect and local languages. Bahasa Indonesia is the legal National Language which also function as Bahasa Persatuan (Language of Unity). When speaking Indonesian, people will of course can't help still using their dialect or accent. To Imagine this, you can compare people from Singapore, India, Arabic world, Russia, British, USA, Australia speak English., they will still retain their mother tongue/1st language when speaking English. The accent depends on region though. Say Jakarta with Betawi-native youll get Bahasa with strong betawi's accent (its the most used one in Indonesia btw), if you go to central Java youll get different accent too, same when you go to Bali or Papua.

I call it a neutral accent, an accent that is not influenced from by a particular region. If your first language is Indonesian, usually speak Indonesian, and you're not fluent in local language, you will have this accent.

Indosian seems no problem on pronouncing any kind of letters. I like it. Maybe they're also good in english pronunciation cuz they dont often change the sound of alphabet. Actually, for final consonant in Thai have only sound for -k, -t, -p, -n, -m, -j, -w and no consonant so, a lot of foreign word will change the way to pronounce (like -l, -s, -ch, etc.) but in these day, even if they write in Thai way, we pronounce the final consonant to sound more english for example: digital > (previously) di-gi-ton to di-gi-tal san-wit to san-witch foot-bon to foot-ball

It is interesting that China chose not to adopt the American terms for many words. Thailand seemed to be the closest to English/American pronunciation. Acha's Indonesian pronunciation of her Rs have a roll to them like Latin languages do. Her Super Mario pronunciation sounded like the proper Italian accent for that character.

As Indonesians since elementary school we are accustomed to learning various languages. For example, I grew up in East Java, at least I should be able to communicate using Indonesian, Javanese, English and Madurai. Javanese language is the most difficult because each region has its own uniqueness. Surabaya, Bojonegoro, Ngawi and Jember are in East Java but the Javanese language used is very different.

That's why sometimes, we (Indonesian) think that there's no language that we can't say or talk/ mention. Buts it's a big challenge for us to say word from Deutch (deep throuth word), French (nasal word) and English etc (for weak R/L). Same case in mention Korean Word, Indonesia have sound for both R and L. There's no R/L instead R and L for example Rusa and Lusa.

Well Vietnamese use both same-as- english-pronunciation and vnese translation in these words. With the english pronunciation, we pronounce it like there are no stress or final sound on the words. Because Indonesian language is used to communicate between indonesians, and before the independence of Indonesia country like portugese has ever invade indonesia. Indonesians has a lots of tribe? (Suku), race, culture and language, there are 34 province and each province has different culture and language, and they are different from each other, thus why Indonesian language was made. For example, i was born in east java, and i only have javanese as my mother tangue (i can speak it fluently), if i meet people from west java whose race is sunda i can't understand them, because javanese and sundanese has different meaning and different language. That is why indonesian language should be used, because it could made us understand each other. P.s my english is not good, but i hope you could understand what i write.

Not really, when you're a native Indonesian speaker growing up without that many influence of traditional languages' accent, Indonesians have pretty easy time in mimicking others' accent. Mainly because of our trading history and the fact we have so many loan words from all over the place, added with we heard so many accents from the traditional languages around us, it made most Indonesians who grew up without accent becoming quite good in mimicking accents.

Basic indonesian doesn't have accents or tone, that's why it sounds similar to english and european. It's pronounced exactly the way it's spelled. Unless you live in some provinces, they have accents :)
