I've heard that these plants, sarracenia purpurea, were used by the Native Americans in defense of small pox. Wish I knew how they used these plants.

Wow! Never heard that. Id be interested to know also!

They boiled the roots and applied a poultice. The pustules would fall off after 4 to 5 days instead of 20.

From Southern Ontario, is there any reputable seller of these plants? Have a Sarracenia purpurea ssp. Venosa but would like to get a Ontario plant. Thanks, great content 👍🏼

@@OutdoorsAndBotanical Awwww man.ok then I guess I will take my chances and go a 5 hour dive to a bord walk.

Unfortunately thats how it goes. Do some research, use google street view and maps and then determine if its a possible location.

@@OutdoorsAndBotanical I tried to see, but the walk images did not go that deep into the board walk.I wanted to show everyone one on the Carniverous Plat Socity of Canada some pics.

@@OutdoorsAndBotanical Oh I just found the perfect place online.A bord walk that goes in a loop on a bog made out of spruce trees.Looks very similar to your footage.Witch means the bog has a chance of finding some plants!Thanks you.If you never made this video I would never know!I wanted to see plants in the wild for a longggg time. Hi, great video, can I get the location of this bog, I'm not looking to poach the plants, I frequently go looking for and photographing these plants in the wild. I could give you my email if that works to send me the location, Thanks.
@OutdoorsAndBotanical2 жыл бұрын
Sorry i cant share the location. But they grow in a ton of places. Just look in wetlands and the sides of lakes where its swampy. Youll find sphagnum moss and then youll find those
@Caydenblackwell4532 жыл бұрын
I know that, that bog is a specific interest to me though from what I saw in the video, I can give you my email and you can give me the location, as I said i'm not looking to poach, just get photographs and post some data about it to the Carnivorous Plant Society of Canada, if you really don't want to give me it that's fine.

Also, those purple pitcher plants are the veinless form, witch is rare and I would like to see them in such a large amount like that.
@OutdoorsAndBotanical2 жыл бұрын
@@Caydenblackwell453 i cant really share it. Its also private property so you wont be able to go in there
@Caydenblackwell4532 жыл бұрын
@@OutdoorsAndBotanical You sure that's private property? don't know why there would be a boardwalk going though there and trails. You could email me the location? I can give you my email. I could just ask the owner for permission to explore like I usually do.
