Did you lose that camo hoodie? I did a mahoosuc traverse 5/29 and there was a soaking wet camo hoodie hanging on a tree just south of old speck summit. Wish I would have carried it out but had 29 miles to go and limited pack space. If it’s yours that’s where it was a few days ago! The notch was rough with snow/ice still on 5/29 must have been crazy when you went through! Happy trails, good luck, and thanks for the content.

Pretty sure that's me you mentioned around 15 min mark. You and I chatted for about 10 mins on Moosilauke. Was fantastic running into you and hearing your story! Fun following your story in the Whites and the ugnliness of postholing and the "joys" of April/May in NH. Ask any hiker which month they hate the most up here and it's almost always going to be May. It's ugly at times! Can only imagine what Fishin Jimmy was like coming off North Kinsman.

Nice to hear from you! Yeah, the snow was hard going, but the whites are still my favorite section

Are you local enough to confirm the pronunciation of Moosilauke? Does it rhyme with lock or Milwaukee?
@artcflowers
@artcflowers 4 ай бұрын
@1519Spring excellent inquiry! "It can be pronounced Moose-il-lock or Moose-il-lock-ie. Either is fine. For those who are interested Moosilauke is named after Mt. Moosilauke in New Hampshire." Dartmouth folks moose-il-lock.

I'm really enjoying watching your videos. I'm on the edge of my seat because it seems like the dam weather has you behind where you should be to complete rhe CYTC. I'm rooting for you and hope you can catch up and successfully accomplish it.

Love Canada Jay. I think NH specializes in that type of snow, I had bruises ever year from postholing.

Any chance of mentioning the date in your videos or how long of a delay between hiking/ shooting the video and the release of the video???
@JaruWalks
@JaruWalks 4 ай бұрын
No, there are people who will come look for you on the trail, so I don’t do that so they can’t find me. I post on a varied delay to keep it intentionally confusing.

Do you know of some guy named “Finisher?” He got the number one tag/spot to summit Katahdin yesterday. (Waiting for the mountain to open). Says he stepped off in GA 2/26. So weird. Oh, and congrats for getting through this day, and sharing it with us!

best video. Loved it. Why? Lots to see and full of new things besides hiking trails. Thumbs up big time I could not stop laughing about the "church group from Canada" Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha . I don't know too many church groups hiking from Canada and I live in Vancouver BC and hike 3-4 times a week. Loved it. I'm going to go looking for Church groups starting today. Ha Ha Ha Ha Loved it Sheila

As you probably know by now, you're mispronouncing Moosilauke in these videos (at least you are consistent, though). It rhymes with "Milwaukee," not "walk." (I confirmed by viewing Taylor the Nahamsha Hiker's Winter hike on Mt. Moosilauke video prior to posting this comment). Hike on!
@JaruWalks

So I have had two people correct me saying it rhymes with lock and rhymes with Milwaukee. I actually pronounce it both ways in the video because I’ve not been given a definitive pronunciation from locals

I wouldn’t go by Taylor. She mispronounces “especially” as “eck-specially” and it makes me cringe every time.

Are you getting frustrated or mentally worn down? Hiking this type of ground, post holing, scary situations , etc has to be mentally taxing you to some degree. You’re doing great and I think you will blow through the PCT.

We're only a few days from June now, are you still on pace to complete the CYTC?
@JaruWalks
@JaruWalks 4 ай бұрын
Technically no, I’m behind pace. But I’m trying to complete a calendar year triple crown on a continuous footpath while obeying the park rules (katahdin is closed). If I were trying to assure I complete the cytc in time I would have flipped to the pct a while back. If there were Vegas odds, I would assume my chances are like 30% right now. Once I am up katahdin and on the pct, we should get a quick sense of if I can put the daily mileage out i will need to finish on time. It is still absolutely possible. But I have gambled, and the outcome depends on when they open katahdin and how fast I’m able to hike on the pct.
