I have lived in the south all my life. We take hurricanes, tornadoes and snow seriously but we also know that laughter and humor make our lives beautiful. We do sympathize with those in the CA fires. We know what it is like to have whole neighborhood blown away in F5 tornadoes with hundreds of people killed. But humor makes life easier. Please know that southern women “love” our language and we will never let it die. These comments and jokes these ladies say are often from their mothers and grandmothers. Mine are. And I have never felt put down or made to be a “hick” with my accent. Exactly the opposite. As Julia’s other show, “speak southern to me” is entitled, if you speak with proper English, the humor is 100% loved. I have traveled this country and never felt disrespect for “speaking southern” but rather the opposite. Folks love it and try to imitate. Look at the people on the news who never lived in the south who now use y’all as often as I do. Loosen up folks. Life is short. Let humor guide you. If you have never listened to Jeanne Robertson, she is another southern lady who speaks southern with perfect English. Y’all be sweet now. See ya later and thanks ladies!!
