I Certainly think there's a huge case for Rashford and to a lesser extent, Gordon, to play the LW spot over Foden. Foden is excellent, but i think playing him there just to shoehorn him in could be a mistake when you need the pace and ability to get in behind a team. Rashford compliments Kane and brings that balance to the front line. Foden and Saka will have to share the RW I think, for the sake of the team. Lets not make the mistake of trying to get as many names in the team as possible and get a good balance.

Rory’s approach to the Ben White situation is disgusting baring in mind the language he (Rory) uses. There were reports that Holland would effectively bully him in front of the team. The one time Southtwat picked him for a squad he never left the bench. Additionally, there are reports of him (White) having a family issue/personal issue, now it was never reported what occurred wasn’t reported/leaked. The guy clearly wants to play for his country - based on the fact he more than happily but the shirt on previously. And since then shit has clearly occurred, additionally, if the geeza didn’t want to represent his country - that’s also completely fine. Not everyone is patriotic, not everyone has a reason to love the land they were born in. Yet he (White) clearly does cos he was happy to play for them previously, so clearly what’s happened was a big fucking deal, it’s not like White and his family haven’t discussed the matter (even White and Arsenal probably have). So grow up Rory, not everyone needs to love the country they’re from, nor does everyone need to represent it if they chose not too.

Nothing's cemented my position more regarding Ben White than knowing Rory's so bothered by him. Hope Ben tells the world he's available for a call up the minute Southgate confirms his departure. Also, I understand it might be a throwaway word in conversation but automatically ascribing patriotism to someone because they play for their country is only as ludicrous as thinking they're not patriotic because they chose not to play. This is especially true in the world of players being able to play for several countries based on tenuous familiar relationships that have no bearing on their actual lives. For what it's worth, I think a better way to approach is to think that Ben White should probably work to get this resolved because he will likely regret not being able to play in such big games over a disagreement (or worse) with some dickhead, assistant coach. I do think Southgate's comments are the nail in the coffin though. He lied about there being an incident so any inclination from Ben to try and move on is now undercut by his national team manager calling him a liar.

White has always said football isn't a big deal to him, he's just good enough to earn a living from it. If it's down to personal reasons for White not staying then fair enough, but also from a football perspective he's not guaranteed a game (Southgate plays his favourites regardless of form) and he's involved in a big title fight and European push so doesn't want to risk an injury in a friendly.

Gordon saved Everton not being directly relegated. Put gorden left wing and he can cover for foden and Bellingham in the middle. Name a better winger at tracking and work rate.
