The fact that they ended Southland like this with a cliffhanger, is dreadful. This is one of the best cop shows ever made and due to the anti cop atmosphere in today's society due to the anti cop media, it was ultimately cancelled. Hopefully one day when the selfishness ends and morals returns to society it will come back on air. :/

I specifically found this video because I had the sudden realization/remembering of a S1 MAYBE S2 episode where John is tellin Ben if he can’t be on the streets you might as well put a bullet in him and after Lucero and The Onion Field Experience and being put on desk (or as John says “rubber gun” detail) this scene has renewed feelings with me.. thought I’d share for anyone interested

I disagree on all that lol. Miami Vice was the best cop series imo. No doubt that Southland comes in second. And this ending was kind of fitting to Coop imo. After all the shit that comes with being a elite vet street cop who's already suppose to be a legend. He most likely dies from a gun shot wound to the mid gut which would kill about 85% victims. It's painful to process when you binge watched this or waited every week for a new episode. But I always saw the humor in it that cops are always trigger happy and will shoot anyone outside of their uniform. Btw Coop was reaching which is a NO No.. I think the moral tale here is that he didn't follow his own instructions.

If I was cooper, I would of dropped the gun slowly ( and if I had my badge) I would slowly get up slowly holding it and flashing it to the cops pointing their guns at me so they would know I am I a cop too. That is how it should of ended...

Right.... I loved Miami Vice a lot more but that shit was probably more unrealistic by 60% compared to this show. Add to the fact the way they filmed Southland. If anyone likes to watch "Cops" with the Bad Boy song in the beginning... Than they would love this show because each chase on foot, helicopter or car had that POV cam vibe to it.
