Tuttle knows a lot about Rust’s alcoholism. “It’s hard to trust a man who can’t trust himself with a beer.” This echoes what Marty told Rust. “This is why I can have 1 beer without needing 20.” Tuttle knows Rust has an alcohol problem and is subtly letting him know that, even though he is outwardly referring to Deacon Farrar. Lots of Cunnigham’s law tactics used here by both characters.

The brass again pushes back against Rust but this time without Marty backing him up he gets nowhere. And that old bald fuck that's been covering shit up for Tuttle since 95... wish they busted that fucker too

Love how this episode starts with the last episode’s song, like it’s meant to play right from the previous scene like a film

That was it. She had enough... and she broke that marriage to ensure that there would be no way out for him this time and to protect herself against anything like that happening to her again.

These two have such a weird "chemistry" - on the surface you think they are 100% opposite of the other, but then... when push comes to shove... they'd DIE for each other - NO QUESTIONS ASKED! Damn - those actors are BRILLIANT.

I just finished watching the S1. I don't want to brag or anything... but with this scene I got a feeling this was the killer, I cant explain exactly why i got that gut feeling... just with the interaction something hinted "this is him..." But now watching back, i recognized first interaction with the killer is that he is uneasy when he lifts his eye protection and how he answers... Then as soon as he is confronted he puts it on somebody else "Andrew blew it out..." Then this scene kind of was rushed, the interaction was so small and Rust had to get back to the car... i didn't like that Rust who is very good at reading people didn't spend more time with him... Then when Rust was in the school and he saw all of those "bird traps"... i once again was certain the law mover man was behind this... but as episodes went by more and more.... towards the end i kind of gave up on it... no way can a man who had a small interaction like that would be the one... and when those two black detectives get lost and pull up to the man lawnmowing the cemetery.... i was telling myself... no please not him... not him... and then seeing all the scars under the dawn of the sun... i was simply speechless... So here i am watching this video and trying to digest exactly why did my gut tell me this was the man... just coincidence or truly his behavior and how this interaction was sped up where Rust had no time to analyze him due to the radio info.

My favorite part of this scene is how clean and new everything looks. It seems like decay is a prevailing theme throughout the first season. The detectives decay, their relationships decay and just about every area they go to is in decay. Everything is decaying except the church. The first episode rust says "this town is like someone's memory of a town and the memory is fading". I got that feeling every location except this church

People like Tuttle love school voucher programs because their schools have much less oversight than public schools and they can get away with way more.
