In this video I have a look at a customers 2017 Jeep Wrangler with the big 3.6 with a misfire and a couple codes stored. A P0203 and a P0303 for the injector circuit. It ends up being and easy fix. I didn't have very good videography in this video. Sorry about that 🤷🏼‍♂️
-Enjoy!

Even the smallest things like lifting the screw and start it backwards to use the plastic manifold to hold the screw out of the way are those valuable random tips that will come in handy someday when I'm wishing they could be made to stay out of the way myself. And the reason he starts it backwards is because it is less likely to strip the plastic he is screwing into if he turns it backwards and gets it to lineup with the threads of the hole made by the previous screw. So, turn it backwards until you feel the bump of it riding over the threads and dropping into the next set of threads and then start screwing forwards.

Nice work Eric .... Now you know why when I retired I looked at the newer Wranglers, talked to a few owners, 50 K of plastic and bad wiring ... decide to keep my 2000 Cherokee Sport 4.0 L... just updated/changed to Bosch 4 port injectors (with silicone ; ) ... took me a total of 45 minutes including coffee break and walking the dog (Bouvier, who assists and keeps the local Riff Raff away) ... The Cherokee's are notorious for needing constant work after 100K ... but most stuff is easy to get to ... half the bolts/nut are metric ... that others are ASE (thank you Chrysler/Benz) ... BTW, those rubber covered twisty ties are great, as a carpenter I have dozens of them in orange, so I can find them ; )

I am amazed at Eric's diagnosis skills. It is fun to watch. I drive an '04 Odyssey, 105K, has been and still is a great car, no fansy stuff to break, nothing has broken. Still, I don't work on cars anymore, bending over them is painful to the spine. And I could not dianose these new car failures. We also have a '16 Pilot my wife drives. It is in the shop regularly. I did just disable the CMS, cylinder management, otherwise, back to the dealer for service. Disabling the CMS cut mileage 2 mpg after 4 tanks. It gets 25+ highway and 22.8 locally now. It was getting 24.8 locally with the CMS, but I don't want it to start burning oil. It is out of warranty now, 52K. Honda put in over $5000 of electronics while still in warrantee. Hopefully it is good now!

You can organize your bolts and nuts so you know where they go back. You can put them in plastic bags and label the bags. You can mark the bolts with paint markers or nail polish in different colors to keep track of them. I've even wrapped them in painters tape and written right on the tape. Some people like to stab them into a cardboard box and mark on the box where they go.

I know you're a purveyor of goops and sprays. Check out Dow Corning vacuum grease. It's like a wicked thick high purity super lube. I used to use it on gas lasers. I don't think it's expensive. Great for orings.

2 things FIRST I wouldn't buy a Jeep if you paid me. 2nd I would have replaced all the injectors, so I never had to go thought that again. Nice Job.

Yeah you right on that I won’t buy a jeep, but my daughter did and now I am the one she comes to to fix it ! Why ? Because she thinks I do it for free for her, not this time! I am charging her $600 bucks because I have to replace the timing chain and guide, she didn’t check her oil on her vehicle , she a spoiled little brat! Lol

Thanks Eric for showing how much junk they have put under the hood of those newer jeeps. I’ll never buy one that isn’t thirty years old or older.

So I watched your video and I followed it because you took apart the least amount of things compared to every other video I saw on this topic! The only thing I did different was I pulled the fender panel out of the passenger side so I could get to the two bolts that held the bracket over the valve cover. Also I used a torque wrench to tighten the upper intake manifold bolts to 7-9 “fig newtons!” Seems to run good no codes. It’s got a weird sound when I first hit the gas almost like a diesel rattle. I don’t know if it was there before because I didn’t pay no attention till I got the dead miss. But I just wanted to thank you for your video. It was a big help!

I got my driver's license in 1967. Part of being allowed to drive the family car was that I had to do the maintenance. Every 5,000 miles I removed the spark plugs and reset the gap. That was on a GM Pontiac station wagon. It had a V8. To remove the spark plugs you needed to disassemble absolutely nothing whatsoever. Just unplug the wire and unscrew the plug. Engines have improved greatly in the 55 years since then but, as this video shows, getting to even the most routine-service item is now nearly impossible.

Always a great video Eric O. Yourself, Scanner Danner, Ivan and Keith are the only channels I watch and have learned so much about proper diagnostics. Keep up the awesome work. Note: I despise doing a heater core. I feel bad for ya. God bless you and your family today. Have a wonderful day Eric O...

Crazy how similar this is to my vehicle. I have a 2019 Chrysler 300s with the pentastar 3.6 and it just hit 70k miles. Never had any issues until last week the engine light came on throwing po201 and po301 and po128 codes. Took it in for service and they replaced all six spark plugs, new injector in cylinder one and new gasket. 600$ later it’s running fine.

I recently bought a JK because I always wanted a Jeep despite knowing they are mostly junk mounted to a frame to which owners bolt on more stuff. The need to replace a bad fork in the Daimler Benz gear box was exhorbently expensive and long delayed shipping due to demand. . Now that Jeeps are actually Fiats in disguise makes me honored to say "it's a Jeep thing". Great channel and information. Thanks from Scottsville.

That’s funny about the reverse rotation when starting a bolt, screw, or nut. You can’t beat that satisfying click when the threads mate up. 😎

I helped (by helped I mean did myself) my buddy swap his heater core out in his Ram. He had the AC recovered already and I went to work. That is quite a pain in the ol' tookus to pull the console, the steering column, then the dash to finally get the assembly pulled to swap the heater core. Added "bonus" was I did it on my birthday... would have been nice to see how you did it versus how I done it. Maybe next time.
