Just went through this on my odessy, 301 codes... i've always thought it was weird when mechanics do an automatic full tune up, or suggest a timing belt and water pump before opening the hood.. had a guy price out a timing belt before looking at the car when i complained about 301 codes... i looked into it on video's like yours, and was able to eliminate all the culprits valve adjustment, did it, pretty easy, exhaust was tight so good thing egr check, vacuum leaks checked, plenum seals checked, injectors cleaned, pvc checked, iac cleaned egr port cleaned, throttle body cleaned, timing belt was spot on both cams, and crank end, good tension, it had been done at 180k ..tensioner was good checked.. i swapped coils around, got the same code, finally got some donor coils and found that 5 and 3 were bad, runs great now..spent 100 bucks, and some time The point is the Video's you guys post put cash back in our pockets, they empower the guy with a good mind, and some tools and time, and protect us from predatory mechanics..I call it Bullshit Armor, thanks to all you guys who post diagnostics, keep up the good work, i hope you are so busy that your turning business away. Stay away from big big box store shops (eg Canadian Tire here in Canada), worked for them and profit is their main driver.. full tune ups on v8's as a starting point. I even got in trouble for warning a few customers who were short on cash to consider other options , when i knew they were being fleeced.. seniors on a fixed income are preyed upon relentlessly .. The internet and you guys have returned a lot of that power to the consumer.. good work, keep it up.. !!!

Yeah working in heavy machinery lab, we noticed holding and moving the wire harness's around that only some of the systems worked and some didn't. "Front Probing" and opening up the socket contacts caused significant intermittent system operation. 742 sockets removed and reterminated fixed the intermittent system operation. So we used a octopus type test lead with all the proper gauges, pin and sockets and never had another "Front Probe" socket problem. Great video as always thanks you.

I had little knowledge of the evap system on it and couldn't hardly find the correct pressure it was supposed to be at but I think there may have been more than one issue. The aftermarket fuel pumps on it rarely put out adequate pressure and at the time I couldn't afford the $400 fuel pump from the dealer. I think if I had still owned it and with what you provide knowledge wise I could have solved it and had a nice running vehicle that was reliable.

I had a very similar problem in a Toyota Camry with a 1MZFE motor. Water had been dripping off the firewall onto the rear bank (The rear hood seal was missing) and had filled the spark plug tubes and shorted out the coil and plug on the centre cylinder. I cleaned them out and changed the coil and plug. all good for 3 weeks and started playing up again. I blew it out and it was dry, so that wasn't the problem. I found the injector wire was frayed where it was clamped in the terminal. only by bumping it when i was trying to get the coil to seat properly after i had started it. They are awkward to get to. So off to the junk yard and got another one with a few inches of loom and soldered it in all fixed. These things take some finding sometimes and a lot of the time when they are erratic its even worse.

Nice timing! I have an '03 Mazda P5 (here on the west coast, they don't rust so you still see a lot of these on the road these days) that gives me a very, very bad rendition of the shimmy, shimmy shakes at hot idle and finally scored the Launch X431, NE the Creader V+ OBD II reader, to test it, it spit out 4-5, maybe as much as 6 codes, don't recall what they were exactly but one (at least was for the MAF sensor, the EGR Valve and a misfire on Cyl #4 being the 3 that come to mind, outside of the very generic, P0300, random misfire that is about as vague as it gets, anyway, have not had time to verify and do a bit more research as one, it got too dark to do much more than just pull codes so since I'm on a 10/4 schedule at work, get Fridays off so will do more tomorrow. BTW, all I got when I had Autozone pull the codes was the very vague and batantly generic P0300 code all by itself in late July. All this from when the timing belt jumped time big time, enough to cause the motor to stall and I replaced it, ended up being the tensioner spring that had broken and lodged itself into the exhaust cam pulley but belt didn't break, and the car was due a third timing belt at 187K+ miles being likely. On July 4th, the car would stutter twice and keep motoring, no money light on periodically while zipping up the Kitsap peninsula to my sister's house on Bainbridge Island for the day and it would stutter oh so randomly both going and coming back home with not light triggered (an 1.5 Hr drive each way) and about 10 days later the tension spring sproinged and the car jumped time. So I've been dealing with a poor idle since, including a flashing money light for a day before returning to steady on. So I've got my work cut out for me tomorrow, Oh joy. But, hope to get to the bottom of this though and the Launch comes highly rated. BTW, the Evap test comes back clean on this bad boy. If you have any ideas of what to look out for on these (FS/DE motor, 2.0L 4 that Naper says is interference, but every other source says it's not), feel free to pass them on!

Ever have a problem with a contact heating up and losing connection? Like a tab or pin warping and then straighten back after cooling.Cheap HDMI cables do this after some use.
