This wasn’t mentioned in video, but due to SW’s substantial investments…. older airports like Dallas Love Field, Houston Hobby, & John Wayne have been completely revitalized. Flying out of Love is a breeze vs DFW. Also, the most recent SW livery is the best in the Biz

I have read the book. I have flown with them many times. I understand their love and appreciation for their employees. I don't understand yet just what went wrong with them over the holidays. I'm confident that if there is any airline that will try to make things right it is Southwest. I have always admired so many of their business practices, I have incorporated many of them into my own business model. However, times have changed! Our model has turned to being flexible, so if they truly think they can't make do with Boeing, I understand. However, I think Boeing has an obligation to Southwest. I hope they come to another great connection.

I remember flying SWA in the Wright Amendment era, stopping in OKC from MCI before the follow-on leg to DAL, and we had the option of staying on the plane and awaiting the turn, or going into the terminal and reboarding.

Southwest needs to get the 737 MAX 7 certified, because their 737-700 fleet is starting to really get up there in years. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised that Southwest helps defray the cost of the upgraded EICAS system on all 737 MAX planes because the 737 MAX 7 order could amount to as many as 300 planes.

I personally love their 737 story and their influence over that program. However, as a company, they need to get their act together and stop prioritizing short-term profits over long-term success. Incidents in the last two years are really kicking them in the ass.

In your introduction, unless I'm mis-hearing, I believe you intend/ought to say "intrastate" and not "interstate", if you mean it started flying only inside of Texas.

Didn't have a "chance" to participate in their recent troubles, but they've been great every time I've flown with them Except for once when lost (and later found) a checked piece of luggage.

This seems to ignore many SouthWest failed ventures, like at Newark
@antonyh37
@antonyh37 Жыл бұрын
Newark wasn't a failed venture. The northeast corridor airspace is one of the most busiest in the world. Lots of major airports in a small area swa serviced ewr, lga, isp and many of those airports have atc delays where they purposely delay flights to ease air traffic. This was becoming a drain on the network because atc delays in the northeast meant that the aircraft would be delayed at it's later destinations. So swa cut and consolidated flights in the area to limit the delays. Ewr just happened to be the easiest option to cut as it wasn't the best performing destination in the area.

Huh, they did all this with this "dangerous" Boeing AC with only a single passenger fatality in their entire history which was actually caused by an engine malfunction.

Most people who have flown SW for years understand why people call them cattle cars. They cram a lot of passengers into a one class cabin and first come, first served when seating. But until now they were a good alternative and cheap way to travel. But now? They are in trouble.
@antonyh37
@antonyh37 Жыл бұрын
It's certainly not tight in any SWA cabins. Take a ride on a AA max 8 economy and then take a ride on any SWA 737 and you'll find the space is greater in SWA 737. Nothing cattle car about it. Because its all economy, the seats are a little larger and legroom a little more than most carriers flying the type. Ryan Air manages to fit 200 seats in the max 8 and call it the max 200, now that's cattle class.

Define trouble? They still have more money in the bank than any airline in the world with 40 plus years of profitability. But they do need to get their house in order.

As a 757/767 pilot, I much rather fly an old 757/767 then a new 737 Max. I flew the Max during Covid, it’s nice, but ultimately just a 737…old 1950’s tech at its core…just look at the overhead panel and the crew alerting system. I think SWA will definitely learn from it’s recent meltdown.

Bla Bla Bla, Southwest is not any better than others. The mess they had to deal with during Christmas is just unthinkable. They should invest in new systems to follow up correctly their business. Money is the only goal.

They should've used Airbus!
@paulshields2220
@paulshields2220 Жыл бұрын
The A320 family wasn’t developed until about 15 year’s after Southwest took their first flight. Meaning Southwest already had an established fleet. And they have never needed to add a second fleet to their lineup. The next chance for Airbus to take over Southwest is when Boeing drops the 737 for their next generation narrow-bodies.

all low cost liners see profit with b737 ,like swa or rynair… low cost airiners cant afford a320 due to high service cost per flight
