Seriously! This was actually pretty funny to me because I had a minor charge as a teenager that was actually dismissed for this exact reason - failure to prosecute, a dozen continuances by the prosecution over two years, etc. If the case has been pending for a while, any lawyer would have likely gotten it dismissed. But SovCits are like anti-lawyers...miraculously turning minor citations into jail time. 😅

The Judge is the last clip tried to politely tell the lawyer for the woman to not ask questions about her client’s feelings. The lawyer responds by asking her a question that starts out by saying “Do you feel “ before the judge shuts her down!!

Judge is so right when he says children love their parents and want to be with them even if the parents don’t deserve it. Sadly I’ve known kids whose mom or dad neglected and abused their kids and after having them removed and placed in stable loving homes, the kids wanted nothing more to go back to mom and dad. Conversely, I’ve seen kids who have been in loving supportive homes where parents did everything for their kids, and these ungrateful brats couldn’t care less about their parents.

I’ve come to agree with the judge. Half of a lawyer’s worth isn’t even knowing the law - it’s just having someone speak CALMLY about basic facts. A random social worker with no legal background would be better than a person defending themselves.

I'm a social worker for a form that deals primarily with Family Law. My job is to speak to clients first to separate the legal from non legal and assist the client to be in a good space so they can give instruction and also take advice! Works very well!

People need to learn how to ask questions, like 'Isn't it true that you chimed in during a call on x date?' 'isn't it true that you on y date you chimed in during the call with ?' 'You stated that you go into another room while the children are on the phone with me, were you in another room on x and y dates when you chimed in?' 'Was anything different with your location/disposition on x and y dates?' You know, the problem is people are so used to arguing and stating facts they don't know how to use those to frame them into questions. (edit) I would like to add, that if you are going through a divorce, especially with a custody question added in, it would behoove you to buy one of those college journal books or a time ledger. Every interaction you have with your son to be, or already, ex write down the date, time, length of interaction and a summary of the interaction ensure any notable statements or behavior are written down. If you do not have custody, but have been granted phone calls or visitation, the same deal but use a different notebook/journal/ledger write down the date/time length of call/visit and a brief summary of what you talked about or did. I would also suggest using different styles/colors of pens. What this does is create a written record that you can submit, or if there is some custodial interference or the kids aren't ready/always delayed by 15 minutes or an hour and so on, it is much easier to prove a pattern of behavior on behalf of your ex/soon-to-be-ex. Otherwise it's just a he said, she said situation.
