For small investors it is highly recommended to buy from secondary market. Holding till maturity is recommended for both(primary or secondary market buyers).

what is the lock in period if we buy in secondary market..? is that as per issue date and maturity continue ?

For an instance , if RBI issues a new SGb series in the month of July for say 7000 rs per gram . Should I purchase a gram gold from secondary market if it's less than 7000 rs. I will keep it till maturity .Please suggest

Yes that's better, because historically SGBs in secondary market are cheaper than Fresh issues.

SGB on secondary market is Not discounted price but 10% costly.
