Sovereignty explained in 60 seconds

Sovereignty is an important concept in the study of global politics and international relations. It is a state's ability to have totaly control over its own affairs (internal sovereignty) and has freedom from other states' violating its borders (internal sovereignty). The debate around these concepts is central to the IR theories of realism and liberalism.

Sovereignty is the absolute right of internal affairs, and the exclusive right of external affairs. Sovereignty is not transferable and not dividable. And it can only be changed by revolution or consents of states.
