Imagine this while listening to the song: As the Crimson flag descended for the last time over the Kremlin, far in the distance on a quite and cold roof top, an old man who had lived to see it rise for the first time long ago brought his ancient violin to his side for one last honorable salute. The song echoed through the empty Russian streets and for a moment it felt if years of glory were awaken again. The Red flag descended into the darkness of the night forever into history and the song fell silent with it. The old man had passed, taking his country and music him but with no regret, his loyalty sealed in eternity.

I was 13 when the flag was taken down. I watched it on live TV and I knew a once great empire had fallen.. I was raised under the beautiful red white and blue flag of the USA by parents raised under the red flag of the USSR. I grew up strong because I had to and in fear because of the unknown, I didn't know if my own people were going to kill me in a nuclear war or some angry paranoid neighbors. I went through more hell than any one kid should have growing up but it made me strong and made me a man. I hold my heritage dear and I love both the USA and Russia equally. I wish no harm to either nation or it's people. I forgive all those that bullied and tormented me as a child.. We didn't have to become enemies.. But political paranoia and media brainwashing is what ruins allies and peace.. Hopefully the future holds great things for all of us.. True story. Not from a movie, or some video game story... This is what I experienced as a real person..

Just imagine the scene. A Russian boy, young and hopeful, joins his military to serve the war effort. He sees the struggles of his fellow soldier to become one of Russia's proudest and greatest soldiers and heroes. Russian pride courses through his blood. When he is done training, they give a rifle and send him off to combat. He is one of the soldiers protecting mother Russia's borders from attack. But soon enough, bomber planes are heard flying above. The humming and roaring of their engines subtly concealed the whistling of their bombs dropping. Explosions of dirt, limbs and gore stain the world around him. Infantry starts rushing towards the position of him and his remaining brothers in arms. They fight against the raging storm of Axis forces, hurling themselves at the border of Russian soldiers in an act of attrition. Bullets showered the fields from both sides as fast as the rain had fallen to the ground. Over time, infantry on both sides dies faster and faster, until eventually it is just the boy forced to pull the trigger against men fighting the same war but with different ideas. Peace wasn't an option on the battleground, but he only wishes it was. He stands amidst the deceased within the bloodied battlefield. The mud stained with the guts, limbs, and blood of his fellow man. His eyes stained with sweat. His uniform, caked in blood and mud. The red heart of Russia bled that day. As he was the only one who lived. He lived where other men shouldn't have died. The stench of regret took over his soul. He wishes that he had never signed up to be a soldier so he may never have to bare witness to what was brought to that field. His comrades, his allies, his friends, dead at his feet. every inch of the ground, coated with their blood and gore. The scent of gunpowder and blood grew as the bodies of man fell.

I don't have to imagine, my brother died fighting in Ukraine last week. He sacrificed himself to the Sukhois, so his comrades and his tanks may roll ever onward. His last act, shooting a flare into the midnight sky, marking his and the enemy location, truly showing how his whole life, he was always our light in the dark, our torch of the path, always guiding ever onward. Rest in peace, Alexandrei Mikael Belsky

Thank you all for condolences and respect, tovarishci. This ceasefire hasn't stopped the fighting in the donbas, only our offensive. But through the ambushes, through the steady hums of the guns of the Mil Mi24s that fill the skys, through the tank battles and the dog fights, from the gates of stalingrad, to the desert in Afghan, to the mountains of chechnya and dagestan to this war in the donbas, our flag waved on through the bloodshed and the death, for it's the sacrifice of the Russian soldier that keeps it waving, that keeps us free. Honor them, comrades, with your lives. This doesn't mean you must die, but rather it means you must live on for them. Never forget; the red in our flag isn't just for our soviet history, it's to remember the sacrifices of our soldiers who have saved their comrades and people.

Imagine if you will: Off in the evening sky the soviet flag is slowly lowered over the Kremlin. The streets of Moscow covered in snow, empty except for one lone solder who is the only of his comrades to survive. He raises his hand in proud solute one last time as the anthem, his anthem, OUR anthem rings out over the city one last time wishing his fallen brothers could be still by his side. The final notes pierce the frozen air, and as the final note rings out, he sheds a single tear and walks down the street fading into a long lost memory... "The motherland has fallen.."

The last thing we heard, was that Stalin took his life in the Kremlin as Hitler oversaw the biggest barrage of artillery in history. Kajivko, Vikitchsky and I fled into the forests as we saw the last battle rage on. We made it only a kilometer or so before we were seperated. As far as I know, I am the last Soviet Soldier. The Germans wiped everything on their relentless march to end socialism, and I haven't seen anyone in days, anyone but the faces of my fallen comrades. They gave all, but the motherland has still fallen. I believe its time to wave the white flag, but Stalin ordered not a foot back, so I shall march on... and on. -Vitaly Broskorski, 17th of August, 1949.

All of you are misinformed. Stalin was the Rightful Successor of Lenin, he brought Industrialization, education, bountiful harvests, massively increased Living standards, built great projects, supported comrades of the Revolution everywhere, no matter what the Western Imperialist tell you, Lenin's Revolution died with Stalin, in 1953. I am not mad, but simply disappointed that you could claim that Stalin's death was a good thing, when it meant the end of the true Workers democracy, and International Socialist Solidarity.

Before my grandpa passed away he was a soviet veteran in ww2..he told me he was forced to fight when he was taken from his family...he said that everytime his squad would capture a German he would give him chocolate, cigarettes, blankets, teach him Russian, you know treat him like a human being...and with tears rolling down his face he told me he tried to save a German officer they captured but his battalion commander shoved him aside and shot the German officer.
