100% your IBC tank is not frozen solid yet. It will most likely have a layer of ice around the exterior , my guess a inch or 2 only. It would probably take a week of -20 minimum to freeze that tank solid. If it does freeze solid it will deform as the ice expands in the center. Hello from Manitoba Canada currently -31c windchill (-24f) a normal chilly day here. Great to see you out having fun in it.

This has become one of my favorite homestead channels. Loved the organization of the barn. Right up my alley, the whole getting and most importantly, stay organized. Lorraine is utilizing her revamped kitchen wonderfully. I love a nice filled pastry. The baby Kuni's, hobbit pig's, are so cute. They love Jason♥️. I was concerned that he may not want to dispatch the Brothers he had first. I reckon when you know you're growing food, getting attached to the animals probably makes them even better. When I was little my mom made "refrigerator stew" and when my own little family was still in the same space we had "Fend for yourself" night when the leftovers were taking over and they didn't match up into anything like soup or stew ingredients, like fried chicken, pizza, stuff that pretty much stands alone. A few years ago I found a really tasty "Tortilla soup" recipe online, it's called something like "6-Can tortilla soup" of course your own fresh or home canned goods would work! I usually double up the solids and do single broth, just to have something a little more substantial. I live alone but I do big batches when I can double the recipe easily, then divide it up, freeze it and that's my fast food when it's cold outside, just stay in make a small batch of cornbread and warm up some soup, or stew, or chili...

Historically, that dish is known as Schlumgullion Goulash. It dates back to pre-refrigeration Europe. The basic recipe is just as Loraine described. Grab everything that is about to turn, boil it up in a pot. Add spices of choice. My Great Grandmother added what ever noodles were at hand. Dad just called it Refrigerator Stew.

When you have snow so rarely, it's something exciting and something to celebrate. You can start a tradition of making a specific unique dessert on the rare occasion that it snows. In my family, that was from "scratch caramel" cinnamon rolls. Edit... You could always make Blueberry Cream Cheese Pastry on snow days. 😁
@briankubik504114 күн бұрын
Close up your high tunnel and keep the wind off the chickens. Also I think you should try tapping a maple tree right now and see if you're getting liquid sap going up the tree. So your valves might burst on your water tanks ice expands so if it doesn't have room to expand that's what causes it to burst. As long as the tanks have air gap you're fine but it's about the valves you need to worry more about.
