I love the subtle differences in appearance between 2467 and 2472, you can tell they're clearly sister locomotives from the same class, but 2467 is decorated as she would have looked in the late 40s-early-50s, with black cylinder caps and no white walls, while 2472 has full whitewalls and silver cylinder caps as she would have looked just before and during WW2... The two eras reflected on the tender, 2467 reads SOUTHERN PACIFIC as per the 1946 scheme, while 2472 has the smaller Southern Pacific Lines from the prewar era. Such a shame they never ran together on Niles. Hopefully 2467 will get a chance to pull a full train at track speed, one day.

The Southern Pacific 2467 is my favorite steam locomotive!! Hopefully, it will operate again in the near future. I especially love hearing its whistle at 4:50. Also, does anyone know what the high-pitched noise coming from it is?

@@atlantis0v-104 2467 has an air horn
@kirbyyork76692 жыл бұрын
The air horn on the 2467 was originally mounted above the smokebox, however when the locomotive was restored the air horn was relocated under the left front running board. 7:18 if you look very closely, you’ll notice the air horn underneath the left hand side running board beside the smokebox.

@@kirbyyork7669 I never knew 2467 had an air horn. Also, you can get a better view of the air horn at 3:31. I mean seriously, holy smokes! No pun intended.

is sp 2467 officially on static display at the California State Railroad Museum?
@westernrailroadvideos998 жыл бұрын
The CSRM rotates its displays, but essentially yes. SP 2467 is on long term loan to the CSRM from the PLA (Pacific Locomotive Association)to keep it protected.

Why did they close th GGRM in hunters point
@westernrailroadvideos998 жыл бұрын
The city wanted to develop the former Navy base at Hunter's Point where GGRM was located. The city or Navy sold the land to a private developer (The insufferable Lennar, I believe). GGRM was evicted and has been sharing the Niles Canyon Railway in Sunol with the PLA (Pacific Locomotive Association).
