I give the same speech to my followers Ben. I'm 23 and I tell people I didn't have it easy growing up. I was in foster care for 4 years, I worked at 3 Wendys fast food restaurants and did retail and went to college. When I was capable of earning money to travel, and getting inspired by you and Louis, I bought my cameras and went. Now 25 Countries later, after exploring them all alone in under a year, I look back and wish I had a childhood. Live and love in the present and everything else will fall into place.

You just have to start somewhere. Start making inquiries and make a list of emails from businesses that you can reach out to. I'm not sure if you want to do film, photography or just blog. But you have to build content before you can promote yourself, so start doing what you want to do and the rest will fall into place. It's hard work but for sure not impossible trust me. I was a broke college student who debated if I had enough in my bank account to buy a cup of Starbucks to be a PA for the film 'The Equalizer' with Denzel Washington to being where I am now at 23. You have to constantly work hard but ALWAYS put your goal and dream first.

I listened to your reply three times. As a 21 year old that's been thinking a lot about the future recently I want to thank you, your open mind and passion for life is inspiring. At times I have wished my life was different, that I wasn't working 9-5 in a job that doesn't make me 100% happy, I think all people wish aspects of their life was different at times, I feel it's only natural. You make me realise that everything you could ever want comes with time and hard work. You can't achieve dreams by taking a back seat and waiting for them to come to you, perseverance is key in this life and if you set out your goals achieving them is entirely up to you. Realising that things can change over time however you want them too has opened my mind and made me a more optimistic and positive person, it's made me more thankful for the life I currently live and the people around me. Yes to this speech about education and being young! I'm 23 (still young but adulting) and though I'm happy to be in the present, I'm thankful for my more carefree years and wish I had enjoyed it a little more. I struggled (still do but am currently in a positive state of mind) with depression and let me tell you it does get better but don't worry so much about it. I'm 24 now, graduated high school 6 years ago. I didn't go to college (university) straight away, I'm in the process of registering to start in January. But in those 6 years, I've been to 8 different countries, most of which for more then a month at a time, and have ridden my bicycle across the United States twice. Counter to popular belief, there is no need to go to university straight away. That opportunity will always be there. If you want to travel after high school, travel. Do what you love to do. You can grow up later. But lets be real...growing up sucks, so be a kid as long as you possibly can.

The comment about GCSE's? I have just done mine and now started college so have experienced it like many other people . While I was doing my GCSE's I watched Ben's vlogs everyday. As it helped me to become more determined to do well, so I can go on the adventures like Ben. You have to think of them as a stepping stone towards where you want to be in life or who you want to be. I'm not 16. I'm 39 - but I guess I'm looking at this from the other side of the situation. 39 isn't old, but I'm getting that travel itch. I grew up on a ship and travelled the world with my parents (until it sank!!). I now edit for tv so it's a great job but still... The grass is always greener.... Trying damn hard to give my kids a similar experience I had growing up. So, Ben, your videos are inspirational even for the older members of your audience. nicely done, SP. the gentle poking fun, mimicking ben's style here and there. very fun. nicely said, Ben. adolescents are forever wishing to be older, forever wishing to be unconstrained. the problem, as your mum well knows as a teacher, is that almost no amount of perspective-giving common sense will convince them that they've everything they need. they simply need time to grow out of it/past it. the real problem comes in adulthood, when adolescence ebbs away, and too many are defaulting their way through life, never actualizing a dream or desire, and become bitter, when the key has been in their hands the whole time. they just needed to learn how to use it.

Hi Ben, I live all the way in Jakarta, Indonesia. I first saw your youtube channel for a dear friend of mine who is into KZbin. But i only started to watch most of your KZbin videos like just about 2 weeks ago. Why? I broke my elbow on my dominant arm about a month ago, and ever since, I wasn't able to do my freelancing job as a photographer/videographer or do much editing as well. I was so bummed and bored, but then I remembered you and how you made such beautiful videos and your daily vlogs are very soothing to watch. I know this might be weird, but I too feel like I want to do vlogs.. I might not be as famous as you, but at least I can be honest and put my skills to great use. I've been in the photo and film industry for quite sometime and I feel that, with just me being honest to the world about my achievements and failures, I would feel a lot better about myself. And i did. I made some already but haven't posted them up. So Ben, just want to say thank you for your daily vlogs and visual vibes. It has given me strength again to feel better about myself and with a broken elbow, there are still other things I could do with my photography and videography skills without having to lift too much weight on it. Please keep on giving out those positive attitudes to us all and I hope people like me would also be passionated in life and see this world as an opportunity for us to rise. I'm 32 years old, but hell yeah.. I'm not going to go down and sulk about my life and my crooked arm. I've got this.
