Great to see you starting here. The one aspect of the game I haven't delved into is the base building. Need to have a place to store all the stuff I've collected.haha

Infinite storage in the lodge you probably already know.

I think there isn't a way to store infinite items in outposts like in FO4.
@brandonsteinbach4208 Жыл бұрын
Considering outposts have no real purpose I don't see why they couldn't give us infinite resource storage it would make base building far less tedious. However since all you can build are prefabricated structures I don't think it would make the experience any more enjoyable. I really hoped the outpost building would be more like it was in fallout 4 just more user friendly lol.

@@brandonsteinbach4208not to mention your spaceship is like a movable house or RV in a sense so no point in living in a player house or outpost but even then, player houses are better than outposts

Couple of points... First off, haters gonna hate, mainly because "this ain't like X- why couldn't they have done it THAT way?!" For them, it'll never be good enough. So, all the thought and commentary needed for that one. The 'ecosystem' - I think that what Bethesda does is look at more than just the player aspect of their games, and it seems to be on display here; the infamous beth bugs are greatly reduced, but like you said- they're in there. Bughunters are bughunters because they like hunting and squashing bugs- the folks who take the time to do that and craft the community patches are awesome for that- but they're players too. Then you have the modders; the first ones out of the gate are doing a great job given that their primary ese of use too, the creation kit, hasn't been released as of yet. Early next year, IIRC, so they're already planning out add on systems, modules, quests, etc. And they're players, too. Speed runners, bughunters, modders... it goes on. People find all kinds of things that make them happy in the game, and all those folks make up the ecosystem. It's not just one type of player. Lore vids, how-to's, where to find stuff... all of it. All players. I think it could be a good move on Bethesda's part to make sure all the types of players have something to engage their creativity and passions. Thanks for doing this, Paul. Looking forward to the ride.

I’m really looking forward for this , I’m almost 3 days in the game and only level 20 as all I do is explore planets and the building of settlements and ships is far too complexed. I wish there was a sort of build station like fallout or something that comes with each settlement to store resources , also can you build on existing buildings like the abandoned ones you find on planets . They basically throw you in the deep end and expect you to know everything
@wattsofwisdom3636 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you can't build near already in game buildings. When you lay an outpost you get so much space in the shape of a circled radius from which you can build inside the radius. If you lay an outpost near a in game building your circled radius will be reduced cutting the circle in half depending on how close you set the outpost near the buoding giving you less to build. It will normally say it cannot be built in a restricted area. It's best to build in a big open area so you can maximize building an outpost base.
@burtvanheel128 Жыл бұрын
Here's the thing: outpost settlement seems to be designed for late stage gameplay in that the skills needed are all of 'em are late game skills - the caveat is, you need to know what it is you want to build up front. Beth did a great job on this by slowing down the build menu from FO 4 - hell you could go to the red rocket and build a fully functional settlement from almost the beginning of the game. This, this is different- but when you look at the development strategy, it comes together rather nicely ( expectedly? maybe) Most of the stuff you get to do centers around the Unity and the NG levels after the first playthrough In reality, this game is all about long term playability. This is the current flagship game for Beth studios, so it makes sense that not everything go thrown out there right no - there' s long run strat built into this game

Your ship kind of serves, in part, as your workbench in terms of storage. Whatever is in ship cargo hold is available to you on the planet when building. Obviously not literally everything as connected workbenches would be in past games but along with what you're harvesting from the location and carrying in your own inventory, it's not THAT lacking in what you can bring along.
@Shadowmosesarea51 Жыл бұрын
@@middlega that does not work for me? So when building the game only registers what I have on my person and not the ship , I have 2,000 in weight of resources on my ship

2 building exploit/mechanics I have found so far is if something should be placeable but keeps showing up red, you can put things in place and hit cancel where it should fit. It has left the item in place afterwards because it could fit. The second is when placing habs/doors high in the air at outpost the game will autobuild stairs to the door.

I miss the robust guidebooks like my trusty Vault Dweller's Survival Guide. I got three days in and decided that I started off completely wrong and re-started with a revised character and planning out my travels (I jumped right into a bunch of the faction quests and found that Bethesda hasn't quite aligned pushing deep into faction quests with main quests which caused me to run into some bugs (lost all of my condo furniture and my lovely commitment gift from Andreja). Didn't change my impression of the game at all, just an "oh well" moment! 🙂

I'm going to have to disagree about the glitches/bugs. Some of those I've run into are 1) Vasco regularly appearing on the top of the cockpit when in flight 2) My ship becoming invisible after fast travel. I'm still sitting in the pilot seat, and I can hear my crew, but they're all invisible 3) Quest related doors becoming inaccessible for no obvious reason 4) Landing on a planet can place the player under the ship and unable to move if the landing gear is too low 5) The game crashing/freezing after playing for 1-2 hours. This started happening after about 90 hours of gameplay, and rarely happened before that but is now happening regularly. 6) A quest indicating two possible options, but the recommended path to get to the 2nd option taking you too close to the 1st option, causing the game to assume you wanted option 1 and removing option 2. Another glitch that has happened fortunately only a couple of times is the outer skin of my ship staying on the ground during take-off but the inner framework launching into space. And yes, I was then able to grav jump and land on another planet in the skinless ship, but the game just kept glitching more and more. I ended up having to reload a save from before the initial launch glitch to finally get my ship working properly. There may be fewer overall, but the ones that do happen are just as annoying and really shouldn't happen. It's a fun game when things work right, but at over 150 hours on a Series S, it's very frustrating to now run into glitches/bugs on a regular basis when the first 50-80 hours were fairly stable.
