1. I know this was addressed, but just reiterating: HOTAS Support / VR/ Head Tracking. PLEASE 2. Is VRAGE3 properly multithreaded? SE2 will desperately need the performance and optimization gains from this. Thanks for all you do, Keen. SE forever!

Multithreading has been highlighted, yes. Agreed on HOTAS and some level of support for VR at least.
@MrMarekRosa55 минут бұрын
multithreading - yes, that's why we started a new engine - VRAGE3 - so we can use data oriented architecture, with much more flexibility on multi-core optimizations

When you build the survival progression, it would be really cool if large veins of rare minerals like platinum, or maybe tritium ice for fusion reactors were defended by enemies. And maybe have certain minerals limited to different planets so that we have to go there.

Yo thank you ♥ for developing my favorite game. If there are more npcs, events, etc. in part 2, it will be a very successful game. The icing on the cake would be a more demanding survival system, because the current one in SE1 focuses only on oxygen and power.

As long as SE2 has the same (same amount) of features as SE1 with better performance in terms of fps and multiplayer stability, I'm happy 👍

something that would be well worth the time working on is marching cubes for the block's paint so that you can blend it between blocks. In this same development, it could be used to show damage better on blocks that is weighted properly as well. The block uniformity is something that is ignorable but the fidelity bar would be so much higher with blending states from block to block. This goes for AO areas lacking dirt too. now that we have raytracing these small details will get way more milage out of these features

1:37:26 This part makes me worried. The same lag as in SE1, same reflection rendering as SE1 (1:39:30), even the shadows casted by the guard rails at 1:36:35 are updating slowly. And there's no ray-tracing noticeable in the demo so I don't get it why it was even mentioned. I'm sorry but this feels like a pimped up VRAGE 2 for me, and all the key features what would sell the game (like water and planet orbiting) are coming later. I really really hope I'm wrong at it will be way better at January 27th, but after what I've seen from the gameplay my finger stopped above the pre-order button.
@mikagrof924337 минут бұрын
Its early access for a reason. They are not selling a finished game, SE1 never had planets on release either. this looks as stable as SE1 currently is when crashing ships even tho those ships are built out of thousands of more blocks
@CrooperOrg25 минут бұрын
@@mikagrof9243 It doesn't explain why they left in the old rendering methods. It was promoted as a new engine written from the ground up. So far I've seen nothing what you wouldn't able to do in VRAGE 2, just some creature comfort stuffs like polished blueprint creation and undo-redo. They are still having technical challenges with core selling features, I think releasing SE2 alpha like this will be counter productive. I'm happy to support Keen, but I'm worried about their promises are bigger than they can deliver. But as I said, I would be the happiest if I would be wrong.

I'm a bit sad that they chose the DirectX API over Vulkan. That would help create a foundation for the Linux version. But it will probably work via Proton on Steam OS 3 anyway. Valve is cooking up some serious stuff, I can't imagine even greater performance in Space engineers.

I don't want to watch 3,5 hours - i have only 1 question: how many players at the same time are supported for servers?
@h.l.69Сағат бұрын
Dear spoiled child, perhaps the developers themselves don’t know just yet, since the game is literally pre-alpha right now. Makes sense?
@planeroastersecond249Сағат бұрын
And theres no multiplayer at release 😢
@NethanielBeeСағат бұрын
they most likely haven't tested that yet but I believe as long as the engine is multi threaded you'll be able to support at least 50 players on a server without lag (with a pretty good server ofc)
@freewebtime9 минут бұрын
Lag there is because of internet connection, not because of the game performance, so don't hope much in this regard. I hope I'm wrong, but the connection speed is a biggest enemy of the developers

Revamp the jumpdrive system, Make it so we enter hyperspace so it feels like you are traveling through space. This would also open the possibility of your ship orbiting a planet at a high speed. Before you choose where to land, this would give the game more immersion. And will break the cycle of JUMP-RECHARGE-JUMP.(Kinda boring)

Few, large, paid official servers will be nice, like we can buy some space engineers computing coins and when we play on the server it will cost as much as our grids are creating computing load. if the cost is like 0.2-2 euro per month (depending on the grid size and their activity.) per player that would be acceptable for many. this will disincentivize people to create unnecessary lag. Low PCU limits for players also should be set to prevent pay to win situation. This can create sustainable servers. Also on PVP give players safe zones for free on their base(for only 1 base per player), so they won't quit the game when their means of production gets destroyed while they were offline, player retention is key. Having 2000+ people servers would be epic. Keep the PCU limits low to incentivize people to join factions to pool their PCU limits to make multi crew bigger ships. Reduce ai accuracy, so people would be better choice to arm the turrets. Make one employee, PVP game balance guy. Thanks for the game Keen.

I would like to see popular APIs, similar to #MES and #AIEnabled, integrated into the game to facilitate mod development. I’ve enjoyed writing scripts and using the SDK for creating more advanced mods, and having such APIs available would enhance the modding experience further. Not only that, but I would love to take it a step further by enabling modders to sell their mods within the game. After all, creating and maintaining mods requires significant time and resources. I’ve always dreamed of a game shaped by the community-modders, designers, and other creators-where their contributions are recognized and rewarded.

Please dont ruin SE2 with DLC overkill, SE1 is pretty much pay2build, the base game having only the most basic building blocks is weird & pretty much needing 70 bucks of DLC to have nice stuff to build with is really bad.. I totally get why there are DLC (to support you!) and how we ended up here (11 years!) but please make sure this doesn't happen again. DLC should be cosmetics/skins for players and skins for blocks, making nicer looking blocks that you paywall is how a LOT of people have left SE1 over the years & the real goal of SE2 should be maintaining a higher returning player count, not making people feel like DLC are mandatory purchases will go a long way in achieving that.

Okay, so whenever I see Xocliw and Marek on screen together, Xocliw tries to engage with the screen/audience and then bring Marek into the conversation but he just looks at him as if he's mad and often just looks away off screen. It's so off putting.

One of them is just really psyched about the new game, the other is probably wondering if all the time and money invested will pay itself back at some point. Hoping he can pay his employees next year, please investors, maybe pay back loans. Much hinges on general public reception of the game so that is a big worry. Maybe still worrying about some major hurdles to clear, bugs that need fixing, performance limits, legal stuff. On top of that probably lost sleep. And maybe a bit of a language barrier. He might not look as enthusiastic, but I'm pretty sure he is very invested and psyched about it, and the actions of him and Keen software speak for itself. From my perspective, if the end result is any good, he could speak like a bored old queen all he wants. And don't forget he's talking about features that he has probably been doing many many long boring or frustrating (or fun) meetings over, he would probably need acting skills to still be enthusiastic about them. He will be enthusiastic about finding out how those features will be received. I guess I'm just saying, give them some slack :) It's literally all fun and games on our end, but not to them.
