I don't know how long I've been underground on this forsaken rock. Days? Weeks? I couldn't tell you. Uppn landing here a gunship spotted me and drove me into a cliffside. The patrols come around every time I stick my head out of the ground, but they don't seem to have notice my water collector which is a godsend since the atmo is not breathable. Underground, limited air, intermittent power. My life has been a monotonous grind attempting to get the fabricator to sort out basic minerals out of the compound I've excavated under the ground. I managed to give the gunship the slip the other day on my bike to go forage for food. I was so hungry I ate it raw, but getting sick was worth it not to die out here. I managed to get a refrisgerator running and between the few olants I managed to collect and the food I scavanged, i just might make it another week. Hopefully by then my new project will be complete and I can take care of that gunship.... 10/10 would dig a hole to hide in again.

Check to see if you're in hostile territory. One of the easier ways to evade drones is to stay out of their territory, at least long enough to unlock 30mm base cannons so you can shoot them down before they get in range. Barring that, you can use popup tactics to fight starter world drones using a regular assault rifle, just lay triangular concrete or steel base blocks to hide behind for a second.

I remember one start on a multi-player server, me and a friend had a drone follow another player that ran back to the starting area/crash site. I dug a tunnel with two openings and we used it like a trench to take cover as we took pot shots at the drone with our pistols. As we were fighting it, a second drone wanders in. Went through a lot of bandages taking them down, but was a lot of fun. Despite the frustration, I thought it was a nice change from the rather mundane start I usually experience.

@@resurrectedstarships Not really I have played the shit out of Emp but there is a few really big problems.. PVP is non existent due to bugs especially desync and weapons lagging through the 1st layer of blocks and not registering the hit until they reach a component. Even on PVP servers no one wants to PVP as they are scared to lose ships resources etc. PVE is sooo boring after a while. Once you have flattened a few POI's and fought the NPC ships etc its just repetitive. One of the things I like is also a problem on some servers, grinding. Grinding on some servers is just too much and once the mines are all scooped up you need to rely on meteors which sucks IMO. Not being able to leave your seat while flying also sucks, why they haven't been able to do this yet is crazy. Another problem is windows HP is far too low meaning most people simply don't use them.

Been playing this game since 2015. I've played and own both SE, NMS, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen and basically every Star Wars game you can imagine. @@SetsunaInfinite As someone with tons of hours I can attest that it's not smooth and its age shows in many ways. Hard disagree w/ OP that EGS is the best made space game. Having owned/played tons of hours into SE, NMS, SB, ED, DU, EVE, and SC I have to say that SC is now (as of 3.17) the best space game ever made! Tons of annoying bugs to deal with but at the end of the day (even in its unfinished state that many bash it for) it has everything that all these other games have combined with the exception of building your own ship (which honestly most player built ships are trash looking as they go for extreme fantasy over anything near realistic vs the extreme details SC puts in their ships and the scale of them). Use to be a hardcore basher of SC but now with the performance increase and me owning a more beefy PC it just can't be touched. Hell I learned just the other day that the damn game actually puts out real time in-game trading info on screens (I thought it was just typical static stuff to look cool) and that they have a system for the economy/trading (a loop that some dive into though trading is not for me). That's just one thing. I'll give EGS props for having a more full system compared to the others listed but it comes 2nd to SC as of this year.

This game brought us nearly everything SC promised, but 7 years sooner.. It may not have the detail and fidelity of SC, but unlike SC, this game is actually fun, it has things to do.. Thanks for this video. Empyrion certainly is "its own thing" and is definitely worth a look. It is quite an achievement from a very small dev team. I played Empyrion when it was still in early access and before they had completed the tutorial campaign. I had another shorter spell once the developers had largely fleshed out the faction interaction / reputation functionality in, which meant the starter planet had all these 'territories' on it. - One area Empyrion shined for me was the vegetation (and amount), particularly on the temperate planets and on some of the slightly alien planets - space engineers still doesn't quite match that look and feel - I also liked the survival mechanics such as growing various items in plots and synthesising different 'dishes' with said ingredients (there's at least a few good mods to support this in Space Engineers now) - They also were 'ahead of the game' so to speak w.r.t. the different construction materials, particularly for ground / space structures; NMS soon overtook that, then Space Engineers caught up some time later, but credit where it is due. For me, many of the textures on the ship construction blocks detract from the overall product, but since I last played they've certainly improved the starmap and by the looks of things, rather polished the look of planets when viewed from space and on approach for landing. - With the appropriate mods, Space Engineers for me now caters for the niche that Empyrion covers, along with SE's speciality in terms of constructing various articulated machinery and generally, better visual polish. That said, I don't regret the time I put into Empyrion and for folks that haven't played it yet: Probably worth a go.

I just wish No man's sky had the space exploration of Elite Dangerous. I don't like that in No man's sky, all the planets are so unrealistically close to each other and the sun is just an unreachable object in the sky. But No man's sky has the ground exploration that Elite dangerous does not. So if those 2 games combined than I would be real happy. It would also be real nice if the planets in No man's sky had more than just 1 type of weather on each planet, like the poles and equator are the same temperature and the biome is the same for the entire planet. It would be cool if some planets had deserts but also forests and maybe glaciers on the poles. But I know that's real hard to make and could take a year of dedicated work to implement into the game.

Installed Reforged Eden (I never even touched the base game lol) and for the first 100 hours or so I was just in this permanent state of WTF why didn't I learn of this game before. Its EXACTLY what I wanted from Space Engineers. Creative building of ships and bases. But with a damn PURPOSE behind it. Progression. Story. Gameplay. And now a few years later im thousands of hours in. And still playin Reforged Eden. Which along with the game gets regular sizeable updates. Cant recommend this game enough. Is it AAA level on the animations and such. Nope. But that's the thing. No AAA game does what this game does. And it does it pretty damn well.

It is a true gem of a game, it was started by a single person who has done the majority of the work and has only recently been getting help from the games community. It is very community based and is still a work in progress and it still has some problems but the game has progressed better than other games that are similar and have a large number of people working on them. I personally play it on my own and it doesn't need to be played on a dedicated server. I have found that it is a better building game than the majority of games that claim to be building games. It is extremely good value for money and I am very happy with it.

Empyrion keeps getting better over the years. It got a lot of flak in its early days when it released, but it's a very different game than it was back in 2015. With more polish, and really just more players making things and interacting with each other, it would be amazing. One of the biggest issues with this game is the lack of population. With more people, the devs might feel more encouraged to work on it more, though it seems like they have done so very well for the past decade, even if it's not so popular. They deserve a lot more recognition for what they've done

This game has been my go to survival crafting game. It hits all the right notes. Building is not nearly as complex as Space Engineers, although the simplicity has its drawbacks as you cannot design a starship that can print smaller starships like in SE. The level of exploration rivals that of No Man's Sky and you can spend hours lost on a single planet just exploring the natural beauty of each world or spend countless hours building your mega starship that will hold all of your smaller ships and hover vessels. Looting and survival are on par with other survival games like Ark or 7 Days to Die, both of which I do love. I love the fact that you can design and build your own starships and they can be as creative as you want them to be. The only other game that rivals this in that category is Space Engineers, but I find Empyrion's building systems far easier to learn and just pick up and play. You don't even need to be an expert builder as the Steam workshop has countless number of vessels made by the community over the years that you can bring into the game with the built in factory option that is usually available to the player, unless it is disabled by server admins. Some of those starships on the workshop look incredible and wouldn't look out of place in a sci-fi show.

As someone that has played empyrion for quite a while I would say be careful with this title. Everyone should be aware that Eleon decided to skip part of the beta and go straight to full 1.0 release, even with the bugs at the time unaddressed (although some have been addressed since but not all). Another main problem with empyrion is the very frequent server wipes that cause you to have to start from scratch everytime (much like in Star Citizen), and although some servers have mods that have wipe-protected backpacks, some wipes require for backpacks to be wiped as well so no matter what eventually you will lose your mats (some server admins try their best to help by giving you replacements after wipes). The wipes are a head-scratcher because if the game is fully released why do they need to wipe every time there is a major update? The reality is empyrion can be a good title for some as long as you know what you are getting into.

Empyrion used to be one of my all-time favorite games. However when they decided to unceremoniously rush out 1.0, when the game was years from being complete yet, and they even just re-used a trailer from an old alpha, (Alpha 7) was when I stopped caring about the game. Even all these years later, they’re still tinkering with the fundamentals, breaking saves every update. They still haven’t finished the tutorial, replaced the placeholder unity store assets, or even finished the character creator… They did finally add the ability to crouch in 1.8, y’know, years after 1.0. If it was still early access, it would still be at the top for me. However this is NOT a finished game, and with them labeling it as one, I have to judge it as one, and it is not up to par.

I've played this game A LOT! It's my all time favourite. I'd recommend the Reforged Eden scenario. It rebalances the entire game and adds a lot of content. If you want a good multiplayer experience check out the Anvil server. The community is amazing. Definitely the best game community I've ever experienced. I hope to see you there!

What the heck, thanks for showing this gem for us, i had no clue this game is this capable. I saw some on-foot gameplay before, but it seemed so clunky that i did not try the game myself. But i had no clue about the ship-building aspect, that part saves the game in my opinion, even though some other parts are surpisingly well put together too.

OMG!! That view at 9:20 is awesome! My most played game on Steam, best expended 10 bucks ever. Best devs I personally have ever run into. Updates continue with no end in sight.

Thanks for give some spotlight on empyrion! I just love this game. We can do so many things in that universe. In empyrion I finally built my own burger / n... medicine distribution network, but Zirax are bad, they dont like burgers, they send waves of drones and ships, like a antiburgers crusade and destroy my dream. I fought until the end. Lost my ammo, but I go warhammer with a chainsaw against the foot soldiers. Was funny till the end.

Also, you've made me miss playing it to the point I want to get into a server and play. I'd definitely help people that need it.

I spent a lot of time playing Empyrion a year or more ago. Had a huge underground base, Multiple vehicles etc. But what the game is missing or could it be that it is too big. The only time I ever ran into another player was on the starter planet and that was once. The game had a few flaws too, windows in ships have to much reflection if you are trying to look outside at night. Every thing I tried, at night you could not see out side your ship. not sure if that reflection problem was ever fixed. 2nd and I assume it was the server. If I did not use my ship in 3 days or something like that it would just be gone. I had a CV that just left one day and a few specialty HV. One HV was more like a tow truck to collect stuff, one was a harvester, one more a hunting platform and another an explorer. If I did not use it ever 3 days it would be gone. Last is the power issue. My bases would eat up power all the time and the same with the CV. I was spending more time trying to keep things fueled up than exploring. last thing, minerals would never reset. The server I was on was running for a long time, so I know people were playing it and could see that is was full on some occasions. But when you are mining etc. you could go back to the same place that show some mineral etc on the map a month later, the ground has filled in but it was still at 0%. ok another pev. if it is at zero percent do not show it on the map. I like the game, but I think it is too big for it's own good in some cases.

That reflection problem may have been fixed, I've not had problems seeing out of windows at night, but it could be light placement. All the rest is just a matter of how the server is setup.

Ahh EGS...it'll always have a place in my heart. Love that it's one of the few space games to offer a full deal (on planet, in space, varying ship sizes, a story, etc). BUT with that said it's unfortunate that the game gets weighed down with its age. I also don't care for the typical survival element in it either. Feel that small part of it does it more harm than good!

I personally love it, I think it's a necessary part of the experience, struggling from the ground up makes it a more organic and rewarding experience... Definitely tedious and will detract many who lack the patience, but if you can stick it out, it pays off so much..

I tried it and this is so far the best game. I prefer this one over elite dangerous (landable planets and living universe), and NMS (more realistic non cartoon style). Thx for info about this game!

I remember playing this with my friends about 5 years ago when it was still in alpha, dude actually almost fried his psu because because we put too many light sources in base and for some reason that pulled more power from the gpu. that didnt stop us from playing tho lmao.

This. Game. Looks. Awesome! Seriously, this has the feel of that I _thought_ Elite Dangerous was when I first encountered that game in my teens. This also, really, really, seems to be what Star Citizen is trying to accomplish, it just seems it from an earlier epoch (graphics wise!). Still, this video throws me back to games such as Hunter on the Amiga, which was just so exciting to explore!
