In reality, all of the Space Force's capabilities already existed through other branches, primarily the Air Force. The new branch was a logistical streamlining, taking all the various parts of US space defense and putting it under one umbrella. Not necessarily needed, but it makes funding and administration much easier. One of the few positive things done for the military during the last administration.

The thing is, the last administration only signed it into existence. ALL of the organization and heavy lifting was done during the Bush and Obama administrations. Here is the issue with some of your comments. it was most branches "job" to handle the issues. now it is only one branch. no matter what branch it is why would anyone downgrade any of the branches. Jw, I may be wrong. so, let's say instead of 20 different people, it's just 5 handling an issue. Space Force was formed to identify and catch, or shall I say take the stress off the other branches. I feel like people don't understand the newest branch, but also don't understand the reason. it is better to have 2 hands on something them 30 hands on something. if you can't understand the reason why this branch was made then you have not looked at the USA history. Branches were created for a reason.

It would be less confusing if it was called Space Guard like Coast Guard instead of Space Force. They basically guard Space domain. They are not an offensive force. I see as more and more civilian companies launch into space and manned space missions become common, Sace Force/Space Guard may also provide a Search and rescue serice like the Coast Guard and maybe an interdiction of illegal substances too (Though I dont think anything is illegal in space yet)
@Aspen77806 ай бұрын
Agreed. Space Guard sounds legitimate, serious, and necessary. Space Force sounds exactly like Steve Carell’s TV series combined with buzz lightyear. I wish they put more thought into a proper name. Space Defense? Space Defense Corp? Astro Defense Force? Orbital Defense Corp? Maybe a name that includes the name satellite or technology in it? Something. Anything that doesn’t give the public the impression that they are a whimsical group of Starship Troopers ready to assault Mars or repel a Cylons invasion.

Cyberwarfare can be offensive. Antisatellite weapons are offensive. Their best defense is a strong offense. They are not going to advertise those capabilities, but they obviously exist.

As a current member of the space force looking at separating (trying to get something more stable for family life), this is VERY true. Space Force experience makes you extremely hirable to hundreds of companies that will pay well above 6 figures as long as you're semi-competent. I'm a year out, and I've already had a multitude of different companies messaging me on LinkedIn trying to hire me. If you have anyone who's debating it, push them into it ASAP, and make sure they go officer. I will say though, the amount of people trying to get in is insane. I don't think the Space Force will have trouble with recruitment anytime in the next several decades. It's tiny, between 10,000 and 20,000 personnel, with limited jobs. They'll fill their lower ranks, but may struggle maintaining higher leadership positions.

@yaxleader Жыл бұрын
@@lawrencebello6177 I went officer so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I don't believe the Space Force has posted ASVAB score requirements for careers yet. However, the Air Force requires a General score of 64 minimum. Since people are applying for the Space Force in droves, I'd say you'd want at least an 80 ideally and minimum 70 if you have other qualifications/certifications. If you have a bachelors, you could go the officer route. Space Force officers tend to be utilized in operational roles and only go managerial after 4-10 years. Very atypical compared to other branches. You also get paid 3X as much

The CATM & K-9 Kennels for RAF Lakenheath & RAF Mildenhall were built there in late 90’s to justify keeping it open sense the DSTS are unique assets.
