Looney Tunes Back In Action is severely underrated. Steve Martin as the CEO of Acme is worth the price of admission alone, but then you've got Timothy Dalton as a great villain, and Brendan Fraser punching himself out at the end. It's a meta-comedy of the highest order.

TBH I agree. It's a *weird* film, but it has its good moments, and some of the jokes are fantastic. Some of my favorites include animated Shaggy complaining to Matthew Lillard about his performance in the live action movie, and them finding a Wal-Mart in the middle of the desert because of product placement.

I think the thing that kind of makes me sad about Space Jam 2 is the fact that I love the Looney Tunes to the ends of the Earth; and in recent years it just feels like they get dragged through these quick buck releases with not even a fraction of the quality of the original cartoons - and the media that does achieve the level of quality and TLC that I've been waiting years to see (Looney Tunes Cartoons!) just isn't given the same spotlight as the movie made by committee to sell toys.

I feel like what salvages Space Jam 1 is that it's so damn open and self-aware about being a ridiculous 90-minute commercial. I mean, it has an entire scene that exists solely for characters to declare that the movie's own plot is utter nonsense. Or that bit where Wayne Knight reels off all of Jordans' sponsors in a single speech, which almost feels like the writers doing a malicious compliance. Space Jam 1 truly *knew what it was* and embraced itself. Space Jam 2, meanwhile, seems to lack any true self-awareness.

Space Jam 2 is literally the most awkward and painful movie that I have watched in quite a while. The Flash at least had some charming and emotional moments amidst the questionable CGI and the starring criminal, but Space Jam 2 has almost no redeeming qualities imo. I can't even enjoy the Rick and Morty cameo in hindsight; thanks a lot, Justin Roiland, ya creeper! Also, keep up the great work, Movie Mikey! You make excellent videos!

We blindly bought tickets to a movie we had never heard of and knew nothing about. That movie was called Gettysburg. Two and a half hours into it, I lean over and say, "When is this going to end? The plot is just getting started." My cousin shrugs. Moments later, the screen goes dark, the house lights come on, and we assume there is an issue with the projector or something. That assumption is quickly dispelled by a slide appearing on the screen with one simple word: Intermission. We both gasped and exchanged "what the fuuu" and then started laughing hysterically. That movie is four hours and thirty-one excruciating minutes long. Don't get me wrong. It's a fantastic film. I really enjoyed it. But it wasn't what we were going for on a lazy afternoon to kill a couple of hours. We finished it but just barely. We had somwhere to be that evening and if it hadn't ended when it did, we were ready to walk out. Neither of us thought to ask someone how much was left during the intermission. And it was 1993 so we couldn't just look it up. I recommend watching it, just not in a theater. Lol. This comment has very little to do with the video. If the movie hadn't lost me at the first trailer, it would have at the part where Bugs is "dying". Lola's cradling him, everyone’s on the verge of tears, etc. But here's the kicker that derails the whole thing: since when do the Looney Tunes give a damn about each other? They've spent 90 years trying kill each other or throw each other under the bus. The movie tries to imply that the Looney Tunes are one big Disney-esque Kumbya happy family. If that’s the case, then where are Pepe, Penelope, Witch Hazel, Crusher, Beaky, Rocky and Mugsy, etc? Why is Marvin treated like crap? Isn't he a Looney Tune? The plot point where it's revealed that everyone bailed on Bugs the moment they discovered the Server Verse was the most in-character they get. That, and Lola's crying face is laughably awful.

I liked the 15 minute montage with the Looneytoons in the different IPs. That was the only good part of the film. My problem was the culmination 40 minute basketball video game with no rules to end the movie. The other team immediately scored thousands of points so there was no tension of them mattering throughout the whole match which proceeded to drag on. Like you said, why isn't Batman playing in the game too. Also the algorithm was really creepy toward Lebron's son which gave me predator vibes that don't belong in a kids movie.

arguably, space jam 2 wasn't the only factor to WB's lack of desire to make animated films, but the fact that 2D animation as a medium was becoming outclassed by 3D animation, and the fact that 2D animating with live action was a big undertaking on top of it. Home on the Range in 2004 marked a sort of end to 2D animation in the big screen to make way for 3D animated film. But I wouldn't ignore the likelihood that SJ2 absolutely helped put the nail in the coffin for 2D animated film on the big screen. and damn I love listening to ya air out WB's dirty laundry to call out how stupid they can be with so much money. (also I am absolutely one of those animators working in a outsourced studio that got borked and let go because of the WB merger, so thank you so so much for talking about this)

The problem with Space Jam 2 is.....a lot. First is that Lebron "Lechina-Lecry-Leflop" James is not only a bad actor, but the movie is not about any real sport, but a loose-canon video game...and Second, after that it holds little respect and credit for its original work, Space Jam (1996) with more effort in trying to make this bigger and better - at same time downplaying the original. Third, the movie have non of the creators of the original movie in this and you would think at least some of those people should have been involved. The original concept(s) of Space Jam 2 was as early as 1998 that the sequel would not repeat the usage of basketball BUT go with another sport (!) The first idea was as mentioned here a skateboard based movie with the Looney Tunes teaming up with skate legend Tony Hawk. When that plan fell off they approached other ideas with ice hockey and featuring hockey legend Wayne Gretzky (who in 1999 retired from hockey and it was possible). Other sport ideas was with football and featuring Tim Tebow. And some ideas was with baseball, but non of all ideas came to fruition. The villain and opponents in this film felt so bland, uninspired and really forgetble right out of the gate. The Monstars was instantly a team that had impact on the audience.

I thought James was a decent actor and can kind of act despite him being a NBA star and pretty better then Jordan's performance in the first one IMO.

@@marshmallowfluff2nd413 Well opinions always matter and you have your fully right to an opinion of your own! But my own opinion, and the vast majority of opinions collected from reliable non-biased critics and movie lovers share the opinion that James was not at an acceptble level of acting - regardles of being a player or an actor he was in the live-action scenes not genuine. Not that Michael Jordan was from any different background then James's point and can't be refered either as an real actor BUT Jordan was very accustomed to be infront of the cameras and play out of character based on all his amounts of commercials made on various products & services. Especally with all the ones he had done with the Looney Tunes animated characters prior and after. More then that is that Jordan always been relaxed infront of cameras while James have been very stiff and a bit of insecure! With Jordan it felt like real life one - HE is the one in control while James could never give that feeling. James felt stiff, unsure and just uninspired and his interaction with people just could not feel "real". And the imaginary versions of his kids was just a bombing on screen - either that was his own idea or just poor script but those where not his kids. Jordan's kids in original was not his own either (because that is understandble), but the child actors HAD there real names and did to decent level act like Jordan's kids. Jordan's sons are just like there dad sport guys and are very competitive and seeing his oldest sport was enough. James's actor kids did not have the correct names to begin with and making a 10-12 year young boy a master game designer and programmer was just WAY-OFF the map so to speak!

Meanwhile, WB puts out The Iron Giant, one of the best films in Western animation, at the end of the summer to almost no fanfare, at a time when the Prince of Egypt had come out and toy story and Star Wars had come back, and it managed to clock in just behind Arlington road and saving private Ryan, a movie that had come out *the previous July*
