He obviously couldn't hear them when they explained all this. So he just nodded along, pretending to have understood what he was signing up for. "Informed Consent" is a poorly respected concept in the Imperium at the best of times. Especially when you're a brainwashed child soldier hyped up on combat drugs.

The Landraider was the first vehicle kit GW made. For a while, all other factions also rode around in Landraiders, even types like Harlequins! The Rhino followed soon after, and there were guides and templates for building Whirlwinds and other variants in WD. Only 2nd saw dedicated kits like these. I love the tlc put into it; not to diminish the efforts of the previous owner, but you really made it shine, dreadnought smokelauncher and all! 😎👍

God I always remember the balancing on this thing being a PITA because the metal whirlwind turret was heavy enough that even a slight incline would cause the plastic tank hull to start tilting backwards and then the turret falling off thanks to be being placed right at the back of the tank (I never glued mine on since 'at the time' you could swap in the old metal razorback turret as well because apart from the turrets, the rest of the parts were the same IIRC, this was a long time ago so my memory may not be as good). Edit: Aannnd you mention that problem right at 5:38, that shows me for commenting before watching the full video.

Lead fishing weights were my go to for fixing these problems as a child. Glued them inside vehicles or to the underside of bases to add stability, plus the extra weightiness felt nice.

Such a classic look for Marines. I really loved how 2nd ed Marine tanks like the WW and Razorback had exposed gunners in their turrets. Personally, I think 40k works best when it’s not so realistic or modern in its tech. And to me it sold the notion that Marines feel so secure in their power armour that they’re willing to use it as their main personal defense even when manning combat vehicles.

A Leman Russ that i had customized into a looted Ork tank. Still have it and now have a Space Marine Demolisher for my Ork army. I really missed out on playing my era of 40k because I was too awkward and shy to game much, but am enjoying reliving my childhood as well. Just played my first ever 750 point game of 5th edition with my girlfriend. Got minced by her Mawloc and loved every minute of it.

I'm glad "Heavy" in 10th ed is now "stay stationary to get a bonus". It's probably the most accommodating version of heavy weapons rules in the game's history. It's also nice that Blood Angels aren't _required_ to randomly charge. They just do it because they want to.

Looking on the plus side for Brother Tinnitus, he's probably immune to Noise Marine weapons now. It's an excellent Whirlwind as I said on the photos, and it's great to hear your history with the model as well. My first ever vehicle was the original Predator but honestly I was too young to really appreciate it - my first 'proper' vehicle as a 40k player was the Land Speeder that came in the 3rd edition box. Even though I don't play loyalist marines anymore I still felt a pang when its retirement was announced, although it was probably a good move from the Land Speeder's point of view, I'd been idly thinking about converting up an Emperor's Children Land Speeder, but didn't think to get one until the news came and they'd all sold out already.

One of the very few models I never bought. I loved the look, but the rules for the Whirlwind were always pretty terrible. In the books, they are awesome, in the Dawn of War videogame they could be cartoonishly overpowered, but in the actual game? Eh. They were solidly a waste of points.
