Turning one room into sections was genius. So functional for a family or a get together.

Well, how interesting. I didn't hear a darn thing mentioned at all about "outdoor" interests of the husband until the judges were introduced! When the heck did THAT come into play? What I heard at the beginning was that Wife wanted elegance and Husband wanted versatility. The first room, frankly, I found a big YAWN. The second room radiated elegance and was definitely more geared toward the Wife's taste than husband's. So - did I miss something? Versatility is in the eye of the beholder. For instance, in the second room that I thought was incredibly beautiful and elegant, but still eminently livable, the coffee table combo with the glass table over the plush tufted ottoman represented the height of versatility to me. The judges were absolutely spot on too that the color inspiration (that "Radiant Orchid") could easily have been swapped out by changing one lamp and getting new cushion slipcovers. In fact, I use cushion slipcovers to change out the look in my black and white living room seasonally, and it works phenomonally. I liked the use of the neutrals in the second room that lent themselves to having the look and mood changed with the change of a few accessory colors. I think the wrong team won, but that's the way it goes. Taste is very individual.

I agreed with the choice of winners. The blue room had the space for the husband as requested. It had a less formal feel to it; more relaxing. The purple room was very attractive but a bit too formal ,that sunburst mirror was perfect and I loved the rug.
@jannibal92735 жыл бұрын
It was a well designed room but it certainly was NOT the elegant room the Wife wanted. It suited the Husband's taste all the way, and to me was just sort of blah. But that's how different tastes work. What appeals to some doesn't appeal to others.

I would go with the room the judges chose. Its neither feminine nor masculine so both can enjoy the room seperately and I find it has more character and integration of the colours. The orchid room looks too feminine for a male to chill in. Big like for this series, Greetings from Malta 🇲🇹

luv luv the rugs in both spaces. I guess keeping the challenge in mind the team that won makes sense but the layout of Olga and Maria room is more practical based on most people's houses.

That blue room was much Too Busy !!! Too many clashing patterns!.... Patterns in the artwork ...patterns in the furniture ... patterns on the floor ...... Pattern is fine ,but none of it meshed... none of the patterns went with each other.. Colors didn't work... I felt My design sense violated observing it. There was no cohesiveness at all ! The Radiant Orchid room was absolutely Gorgeous !!!!! Pure Design Artistry !!! Nothing else that needs to be said about that room ...just Gorgeous.. I would definitely hire that design team ! Please, give Empty-nesters ( both Male & Female ) more credit in their design taste !

The room that didn't win gave no consideration to the husband. He wanted comfort, the wife wanted glitz. The metallic and orchid accessories pushed it over the top so there was no compromise. But I do agree with another commenter who said the winning room had too many disparate colors and patterns. If the busy blue chair were replaced with something more subtle it would have worked,

@@TubeTorte To Me...the Radiant orchid room looked totally comfortable.... I don't understand why people think that if design looks stylish,than it must not be comfortable.... The radiant orchid room was beautiful and it looked comfortable...... Why do people think something has to be ugly to be comfortable? I just don't understand people's thinking..... it makes no sense.......

I didn't like that I didn't know the designers names til the end of the show and only the winners, maybe the names of the teams should be written on the screen when ever they show their designed rooms and at the stat they should introduce them too.

Hands down Room #2 filled the "elegant" wishes of Wife beautifully. I heard mentioned in the initial description of the challenge the words Husband wants versatility - not a THING about reflecting his "outdoor interests." So I was caught totally off guard when that was mentioned when the judges were introduced at the end! What the heck? Well of course there is no argument as far as I'm concerned, Room #2 won the elegance and versatility hands-down. Just the coffee table/cushy tufted ottoman combo in the second room alone had me swooning!

Neither really did it for me. I found the first room to be overcrowded and too busy. The second had too many accessories and too few masculine elements. If I had to pick one, I'd pick the second because it was the easiest to fix.
