Such a timelessness to Mel Brooks films. My 19 year old daughter couldn't catch her breath she laughed so hard at Men in Tights. It's the nostalgia for me ❤

The blast off scene was filmed at the LA Arboretum. The fountains in the background are still there. You could do a whole series of videos on everything that was filmed there. Plus, it's just a gorgeous spot!

Wow that church is beautiful. I've seen Spaceballs dozens of times but never really paid attention to the background of those scenes. Seeing it as looks without the set dressings is really interesting. I don't know what it's called but I love that style of architecture... it's gorgeous.

SO cool! Thank you. It's funny though (to me, anyway, lol), when Spaceballs came out, I thought it was an awful movie! And this from a guy that loves Airplane!, Top Secret, Police Squad, and all those silly movies. But - Spaceballs grew on me. I couldn't figure out why but I wanted to watch it again, and again, and each time, it was more and more hilarious. Mel Brooks is brilliant - his biography, All About Me, is a must read, especially the audiobook version since he narrates the entire thing. Well done, Michael! (I'm a Michael too, coincidentally.)

Spaceballs is one of my top 3 favorite comedy movies of all time, the other two being National Lampoon's Vacation (I would say Christmas Vacation but the first one has had a much greater cultural impact) and The Naked Gun. Seeing the "Spaceballs church" again after all this time is truly incredible, if I could be there in person I would want to reenact the church scenes from the movie. Thanks for pointing out the grave of Charleton Heston, I didn't know that he was buried there. Lastly, R.I.P. John Candy. I liked him in those comedy movies back in the 1980s, especially my #4 favorite of all time, The Great Outdoors, heck, he even had his own animated series called Camp Candy, and I was really sad when he passed. And also R.I.P. Joan Rivers (voice of Dot Matrix), can't forget about her.

I remember watching this when it came out on vhs. My grandmother rented it for me. It was in the 80s and I was in second grade. I was eating pizza watching it and then the scene when pizza the hut came on. I remember looking at my pizza and feeling sick lol But such a awesome movie and one I remember from my childhood. Lorene Yarnell Jansson played Dot Matrix, Joan was just the voice. It was a nod to James Earl Jones voicing Vader who was played by David Prowse, the wheelchair dude's bodyguard from A Clockwork Orange. Fun Fact: Darth Vader was Christopher Reeve's personal trainer for Superman.
