i've often figured that Klingons *really* are into the whole battle honors thing for their ships, and a ship that has a long history of battle and victory is more prestigious to serve on than a newer, less experienced hull. so basically they'll refit and rebuild for as long as possible to keep a ship in service, and don't retire ships when they get old, the way most other races do, instead only retiring one if the ship suffered a string of particularly dishonorable events. it would be more likely that such aging ships would be destroyed valiantly in battle, which klingons would see as an honorable end.

Well, in the Enterprise episode Sleeping Dogs, in which humans step onto a Klingon ship for the first time, it is revealed that their ships do indeed have a bad smell. So that's kind of fitting.

actually, it has 12 disruptors (1:26 for reference for most of these): -2 under the brim of the 'Hat' -(2) 1 either side the base of the neck (near the hull on the top, those two white dots) -(2) 1 on the front top corner of each pylon (!:36) -(2) 1 under each 'shoulder' as bulges -(2) 1 on the front of each warp nacelle (has protective doors in front of each nacelle -(2) 1 either side of the engineering/shuttle bay on the top (white dots) also the forward torpedo launder can be configured as a red heavy disruptor (beam, 2:55) just some stuff people dont really know about this ship otherwise great video!

More like 'build on strength' it's their cornerstone. It hampers them is someways. It's why you always see a Vor'cha whenever the Imperial Fleet has to do something outside military application. Hard to conduct any kind of surveying for colonies on a B'rel. But it does make them absolute beaters when dealing with military applications.

Until I saw this video I didn't know those 3 Klingon ships seen at the beginning of Star Trek The Motion Picture were of a variant of the class seen in the T.O.S. series that the K'Tinga class is an upgraded version of the old D7 class and even though they were probably near a century old by the time newer classes of Klingon ships that came into service the K'Tinga class is still an impressive design.

According to the updated canon, the K'T'Inga is supposed to be quite a bit larger than the D7. Also when comparing the Eaglemoss models of both ships, I found that the dimensions and shapes are not exactly identical. The D7 is more sturdy, its "head" is larger but its warp nacelles are smaller in relation to the overall size of the ship than on the K'T'inga.

How about that. Gavitational lensing is real and can be used to "cloak". Anazing how much of S T's technology is theorectically possible, and just outside our current technological grasp. Warp bubbles, cloaking and 3d printing, ordering a meal and food is replicated. Onboard repairs. Medical issues all possible with 3D printing. Would be interesting to see aerospace engineers and spacecraft designers take a serious look at some of the S.T. ship designs. Glory to you and your house.

Also gave voyager a run for its money when they found the sleeper ship in the delta quadrant. Did moderate damage before voyager disabled the cloaking.

The long neck did serve a practical purpose, besides being a weak spot from any angle besides fore and aft - it enabled the command crew to escape a warp core breach quickly. Should the main body of the ship be about to explode, the most valuable crew members… those with tactical skill and combat experience can survive to then fight another day, saving their wealth of knowledge. And if there's enough time, crew from the main body, the engineers as so forth, can turbolift their way to the forward command module. And if not, they died with honour. It's basically a quick release version of StarFleets Saucer Section. And with the long neck it is already a distance away from the early explosions of the main hull and can detach far easier than a Saucer can.

That's a flashback from the Voyager episode "Flashback" taking place during the events of Star Trek VI. The Excelsior-class ship actually is the USS Excelsior, under the command of Captain Sulu en route to Qo'noS, in an unauthorized attempt to rescue Kirk and McCoy. She was intercepted by a Klingon battle cruiser under the command of Captain Kang.

Wow I’ve played way too many games and read a few books. I always thought all Klingon ships were all equipped with ion torpedos. I had to look up my excel sheet for one of my games that I use to compare stats when playing. It does show ion torpedos lol thought I lost it. I believe the Interplay games also use ion torpedos and all of the unlicensed Star Trek games from the 90s and 80s also. Very interesting, I never noticed this until this video mentioned this.

Okay, so it has a long boi necc. But we have shields. And also, what's the use of hitting the neck? You cut the bridge off, but it probably has a cic. The point of the neck in my view is actually quite clever. Keep the bridge away from the guns, keep the guns away from the engines. That way the enemy has to focus fire on one specific system, and cant disable multiple.
