The stargates are made of Naquada, the ships are made of naquada. The Stargate is a giant capacitor because of it's building materials able to absorb huge amounts of energy, so it goes without saying that the energy unleashed from the Staff weapons would get absorbed quite easily by the walls of their ships too.
@belisarian64293 жыл бұрын
@@Rikard_Nilsson If I remember correctly naquadah was used as power source/fuel for engines, weapons..... + it is extremely heavy/dense so I think hulls of their ships are from something else, that being said any conductive metal of decent thickness will be probably good enough to dissipate energy from hand held energy weapons.

Stargate was such a brilliant sci-fi universe. The stargates themselves gave the option of having so many stories. The Goa'uld, early Replicators and the Wraiths were super powerful but with sensible weaknesses. The Goa'uld had both really interesting and deep villains and huge armies of Jaffa at the same time. All the in-fighting made it believable that they'd ignore us unless we looked like a serious threat, then they'd work on a huge invasion or an explosive asteroid. I still think that a Stargate game similar to X-Com would be one of the greatest games ever, but we'll probably never know because MGM apparently don't play well with others.

I love the Stargate universe, and Star Wars of course. Think you could do Galactic Empire vs. Gou'ald Empire? Their weapons, tactics, and fleets have generally the same objectives and weaknesses. They are meant to inspire fear, crush unrest, and disperse small scale rebellion. However, they both have trouble against large scale insurgencies, and even other large space faring factions. I dont know about you guys, but it would be fascinating to see these two factions in a straight up galactic domination fight against each other.
@edwardaugustus96806 жыл бұрын
I agree that both empires followed similar ship building designs and combat doctrines making them fairly comparable unlike most inter settling match ups with both sides ships being similar in power (The Ha'Tak was upgraded massively over the series so at least one version would have been of equal power). The main weakness of the Gou'ald in such a conflict would be that they lacked a large industrial base due to keeping pretty much all their worlds at pre feudal tech levels. But even with this they had the tech needed to still producer at least several thousand Ha'Tak class ships which based off what we are shown in some episodes could be built in a couple of months with little more than several thousand slaves and a sort of semi-organic growth (see the episode Thor's Chariot to see what i mean though in said episode they may not have been Ha'Tak class but another Cruiser style warship, they sort of grew or phased into existance).

There were (Possibly) 2800 Hatak motherships in the MW prior to the SG-1 series. The SG writers very much underestimated the production capacity of galactic powers and the attrition of war. 60 Hiveships is nothing, 40 something were destroyed during Atlantis. In order to actually overwhelm a race like the Lanteans, who's warships could shred Hives, try 10x that many, and about 5 cruisers for each.

Actually, the 60 hive figures was never said to be the total amount. It was an extrapolation based upon the 24 in their sector, but that doesn't mean much. Considering how many were destroyed on screen alone, i think it's clear that the Hives were more numerous than expected. Secondly, the Lanteans faced a different wraith, one united and with a single purpose. After that, the Wraith fell to apparent infighting and population control. Lastly, the Hiveship is not mean to be a warship, Cruisers are. Cruiser firepower to size ratios are vastly superior to that of Hiveships.

The Wraith are one huge plot hole. The Lanteans (acneints) in SGA are way dumber and posses faaar less advanced technology than in SG-1. Furthemore, SGA sucked big time. It lacked a coherent plot from maybe the second half of the 1st season.

it is implied that there re 800 Hataks in MW during season 8 of SG-1.

nehorlavazapalka And they lack any sort of cruiser, an in between the Hatak/Alkesh, the Hatak was heavily armed but primarily a transport. The Galactic Empire has 25,000 I-Star Destroyers and 5000 additional capital ships. The Goa'uld were the largest Empire in the MW. Granted, they fought constantly, but that just increases need for production. The last 4 seasons of SG1 were more fantasy fluff then 1-6, with 1-5 being the best. They never addressed the Aschen, the Nox, Tollan, Oannes, Alterans, and numerous others. SGA has great humor and interpersonal interactions but yes, it's full of inconsistencies and holes. It ruined the Ancients. The Ancients were aw inspiring mysterious demigods...until we see Walmart level competence in SGA. The Lanteans should have easily beaten the Wraith, unless the numbers were beyond anything seen in SG. I also assume the captured ZPMs were used to grow more ships quickly. As soldiers, the Wraith from the crashed supply ship showed genuine potential as a threat to the Lanteans, who were supposed to be superhuman.

The Tel'Tak didnt always have a cloak. I think only two or three in the show actually had them.

Its hard to imagine travelling in an Greg Egan book where nano `polis ` (machines capable of holding a consciousness )machines are constructed in different universes via micro wormholes with different laws of physics then once complete `the consciousness` data gets piped through and you have to adjust your consciousness to the new physics ..and repeat . Diaspora describes it eloquently .

I always assumed that the Cheops class was a System Lord's luxury liner rather than a warship.
