Yes, you're doing a lot of the same fun stuff I've been working on for a number of years, slowly building an entire space ship interior for a feature of my own. I have a couple of long mechanical corridors (engine-room/guts of the ship adjacent), and parts of an air lock, control room (as opposed to a "bridge"), quantum-computer compartment, medical room, and 2 personal cabins in the works (some of it in modular form to be assembled once certain parts of the ship are filmed and no longer needed. Exterior is the real challenge, but I may have a solution to that.) Fortunately I live/work in an industrial area where the most amazing finds are almost ever present in terms of technical equipment, styrofoam, tubing, pipes, columns etc etc. (I also picked up some of the same vacu-form patterns from Home Depot and places like that....And I see you're using the same shelves for flooring- that I am.--I've found so many of these being thrown away constantly---I think by now I've found maybe 15-20 of these free for the taking. Of course, if you're doing this I'm going to have to take the extra step of disguising mine a bit more so can't be accused of being a copy cat! It's all very cool fun stuff to play around with in different ways, re-dressing etc. Thanks for the post. Glad to see I'm not the only spaceship set-builder "nut" really into this. I look fprward to seeing your progress.

Do you think in honour of the Rogue One movie coming out you could review any of the previous Star Wars films. Even the rip-offs like "The Last Starfighter"?

Scrap metal yards are another good place to get crap. You'll get the plastic parts for free because it's a scrap metal yard. When I lived in San Diego, CA I knew the owner of a yard that got scrap metal from the aerospace, medical, and computer industry. I got a lot of good stuff from that. My builds got me jobs on several TV shows, like ST:TNG. Also with the Styrofoam you can cover it with paper mache then go crazy with your spray paint. That worked for the NASA look I was going for. I work well on Star Trek too. Ever though they had the anti-gravity there was still parts that looked soft in the world. It was an homage to zero-G environments where thinks had to be covered with padding so astronauts wouldn't get hurt.

One addition it looks like it could use is some lights. A few well placed LEDs could make some of those static props pop. Blinking is always nice but static lights can be gotten cheaply from most dollar stores. As the voltage is low, you could just run a low volt transformer on the back of the walls and use the steel magnetic straps as a distribution buss. That way the wiring could stay hidden inside the props.

It's been a while since I used it, but I think they sell water-based spray paint at arts and craft stores. I used it to create scenery for tabletop wargaming landscapes but I think the paint was a bit pricey.

I know that a lot of people do this (to save up and stufff) and I've known for a while, but when you see someone build it, you just can't unsee it, and it makes me a little bit sad. On the plus side, it looks cool so... The good with the bad, I guess

Same for Target. Most of the Target's in this area are still working freight when the store opens. Housewares, Frames, and Lamps gets tons of foam. It is also a good place to go for bubble wrap.

Honestly, the one thing I'm hoping that is added to this is one of those generic emergency Fire axes, Y'know, those ones where you have to break the glass? Except instead Of an axe or fire extinguisher, Its some sort of Space Blaster pistol or rifle.
