This week I show you how you can transform $20 of serving trays purchased inexpensively from a Dollar Store into a space ship set. You can create a whole space ship set for your next DIY Sci-Fi project or cosplay photo shoot on a budget.

As an aspiring film maker I really fucking love this channel. It reminds me that budget doesn't have to be nuts but things can still turn out looking beautiful in the end. Great content y'all are pushing out with your sci-fi tutorials they are incredibly helpful and can be translated well to any genre

Can I just say- thank you so much for these videos. Your attitude is amazing, and you make such great things. You make these expensive hobbies much more attainable. I help put on a LARP, and your videos have helped me really bring a little something extra to the room. So, thank you. Seriously.

Ok, if you like reading all the comments, i hope i can help with just a tiny suggestion I've found helped me. If you've ever heard the saying "once you see it, you can't unsee it", i think this would fall into that category. Something to consider for future videos, is start with the finished product in a scene and show it as it was meant to be, a background. THEN point out what the video is about and break down the 'build' and show "behind the curtain" as it were. For those like me who can't 'unsee' it, it's hard to not see the trays after seeing it start that way. But with a cameo first of the finished scene so that the viewer doesn't really know what the "new project is", it helps sell it for its intended purpose instead of trying to not see what you know is there. Some don't have that deep imagination to see it as it 'should be', they only see what they know. "To a hammer, everything looks like a nail", so to a critic, background shouldn't stand out Until you draw attention to it. Hope this helps! :)

People like you are my heroes. Big Hollywood movies have even used this technique. If I'm right, I do believe that one of the Star Trek movies used one of those hand dryers that you put your hands through as a prop for the background.

Look functional. Like if you were to put knobs on the square "service trays" thay will look like access panels.

It's great to have a permanent place to build (and maintain) a standing set. Unfortunately, I have no such place at present. The closest I can come is a friend who has painted one wall of his basement chromakey green. Well, things can change... and they often do. Waiting with bated breath (not 'baited', since I don't eat angleworms; I have *some* taste) for the debut of Zenith Run.

Good stuff here . I dream of building a scifi home theater someday . I work for an auto part manufacturer that makes everything from key fobs to alternators . You would not believe all the cool part trays that stuff comes in . I have "rescued" quite a few from recycling boxes 😉

I'm curious to know what you think of the incredibly expensive props that major movie companies sink millions of $$$ into. I love your cheap and chearful stuff, and of course it does its job wonderfully. Are they forgetting the 'magic' of cinema?
@createscifi
@createscifi 4 жыл бұрын
Thx! If you ever see those major movie props in person they are pretty amazing and add value to the production and also to the performance. But content is still king a good story well performed is still the most valuable

I think that looks amazing. Even knowing what the set is made from it still looks like it was made to be that wall. Very happy to have found your channel, and I find that I think very much in the same way you do. Anyway I’m subbing and I look forward to watching your catalog of videos and try to keep up with newer videos as well. It would be awesome to work with you one day perhaps. Take care man.

I tried making a no-budget web film and asked for help but no one showed up, in my fact my neighbor submitted my idea to a science fiction writing contest with only his name. I feel very discouraged, my idea is at trondium.com I love your videos. But it is a Solo job. Please do a video about collaboration.
