SpaceX New Raptor V3, V4 Totally Shocked NASA and Russia Scientists!
Unlike someone who got paid 33 million dollars each year for doing nothing, Elon Musk contributes a lot to the commercialization of space travel.
It could even be said that what he has done for the rocketry is worth many times more than the money he received as CEO of SpaceX.
And one of his most memorable creations is the incredibly powerful Raptor rocket engine that powers the gaint Starship rocket.
Not only does it possess advanced technologies such as a full-flow staged combustion cycle, and the use of the futuristic propellant methalox, but it has also been significantly upgraded to become more modern and powerful.
SpaceX New Raptor V3, V4 Totally Shocked NASA and Russia Scientists!
Indeed, SpaceX recently blew the public away with the debut of a new masterpiece, the Raptor 3, which promises to be a turning point in Starship's development stage.
Find out everything in today's Techmap episode.
But before we begin, let's subscribe to the channel to stay up-to-date with the latest space news.
In response to Tory Bruno’s comments on X, Elon Musk swiftly posted a test image of the Raptor 3 with the caption: “Raptor 3 first firing today.” He followed up with a tweet showcasing ULA CEO Tory Bruno’s comment, accompanied by a brief message: “lol.” Musk provided further clarification in another tweet: “All the small plumbing & wiring had to be deleted or incorporated into the primary structure because Raptor 3 will have no heat shield. Also, all parts have to be actively cooled in some way, so we added regenerative cooling where there was no existing fluid or gas flow.”
SpaceX New Raptor V3, V4 Totally Shocked NASA and Russia Scientists!
Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's President, took a more direct approach. She shared a Raptor 3 test image with a tweet: “Works pretty good for a ‘partially assembled’ engine :)”. Her tweet highlighted the phrase “partially assembled,” referencing Tory Bruno’s previous comment.
On August 3, SpaceX knocked the fans's socks off with the updates and image of Raptor Version 3. The company also didn't forget to compare the new version to two previous ones to highlight its notable features.
The performance statistics for the SpaceX Raptor engines have shown significant advancements across the different versions.
The first one is thrust increase. Raptor 3 with 280 tons of force improved thrust by 50 over Raptor 2 and 95 over Raptor 1.
By comparison, the closest engine to the Raptor that uses a phased combustion cycle with methane and oxygen is the BE-4 engine, which is expected to produce about 245 tons of thrust.
The special version 3 surpasses the popular rocket engines such as RS-25 with 190 tons. The RD-180 has 390 tons of thrust at sea level - but uses two combustion chambers and two nozzles, reducing the Thrust-to-Weight Ratio to 77.26, much lower than 183.6 of Raptor 3.

A future Raptor engine at 330 metric tonnes thrust would be nearly half the thrust of a Saturn V F1 engine of 680 metric tonnes thrust (1.5 million pounds). The F1 engine was initially troubled with chronic combustion instability causing it to blow up which the V2 rocket engine did not experience. The claimed fix was placement of vanes in the combustion chamber, but as secret as rocketry is that might only be the visible part of the fix.

Elon, I think it's very good that you are advancing chemical rocket technology or CRT... However let's keep our eyes on proper gravity drives we know factually that those have existed since the 1960s from reverse engineering and we know factually that Germany apparently reverse engineered them in laboratories underground in Poland.... the facilities are still visible to this day.... Those who do not understand scientific method or true technology will think this is a theory not a concrete fact and they'll have to remain in their states of abysmal ignorance likely for the rest of their natural lives. What I'm discussing here Elon boils down to right hand rule and allowing physics to progress beyond the horse-drawn carriage and the internal combustion engine which has been kept in place by lethal force for the last 150 years.

I know the old saying, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I also understand that it has been approved for human carry and is the cash cow for SpaceX. But it seems that there would be some major advantages to developing a version with the more powerful Raptor engine. Bigger payloads to higher orbit while recovering the rocket for reuse. Maybe it’s too much trouble for not enough gain but it seems that the improvements to the new Raptor engine would make it worthwhile to put them on a new Falcon.

It wouldn’t be a simple engine swap, the new fuel requirements would be some real changes just to change fuel storage and other changes to pump and ignite the different fuel. In all this I heard, "the stripped down v3 engine will be much more difficult to repair" as if this was a bad thing. Ever heard of Plug & play? if it breaks swap it out. apparently raptor Engine changes can be done pretty quickly and they will have lots of them lying around. This is not new, back in the 1980's Volvo was working on a sealed truck engine, that is you just bolted it into the truck, and away it would go for a million miles. no oil changes no servicing no nothing just bin the engine and throw in a new one when it reached the target mileage. I dont know if they ever managed it as I never kept up with the industry when I left but as we "progress" throwaway components are the thing these days When was the last time you heard of a mechanic "fixing" say an alternator? just get a new one its easier, quicker and eventually cheaper.

@odysseusrex5908
@odysseusrex5908 3 ай бұрын
You'd be amazed how many parts those F1s had, and they could only fly once. Also, by using a smaller engine, SpaceX can use the same engines on both stages, whereas the Saturn V needed different engines, the J2, on its upper stages. This gives the Starship (and Falcon) much greater operational flexibility than the purpose built Saturn V. The Saturn V was the greatest rocket ever built, it put us on the Moon, but now it is time to do more.
@RepRapper

@@odysseusrex5908 Your right the Saturn V is the greatest rocket ever built and it did take us to the moon and until Space X does more it will still be the greatest rocket ever made. the question is will they ever make it? 33 rocket engines have 6 times the chance of failure that 5 rocket engines do. I would like to see Space X really simplify their rockets and cut down all of those failure points. Why not 5 Mega Raptors and really simplify things? The Russian moon rocket failed and killed most of the scientist who worked on it using the same concept. Keep it simple.

Elon, if you want to maximize your chemical rocket engines look at the ayurvedic mockups that still exist in Southern India they are ancient examples of standard chemical rocket technology in its maximized form if you reverse engineer your knowledge-based on those shapes it is likely you can maximize the effectiveness and reach an apex potential for chemical rocketry. This still does not represent proper use of kinetic force nor does it represent the recognition that gravitic dipoles are a simple process of right hand rule based electromagnetic gravitic technology...
