Gracias, Stu! The Segovia pic was from July 2019 - our last Spain trip before the pandemic. I don’t have anything fancy, just an iPhone. The key is I’m constantly breaking my phones at work (I own a bar) so I’m often traveling with the latest version. I’m not one of *those* gear heads- just very rough on my phones.

Hi Stu, love your videos. Gosh, people in the comments can get so excited - kind of like road rage, there something about conversing in the comment sections that really riles people up. Housing crisis, migrants, floods, dirty expats buying up all the expensive houses, the news lately is a little heavy. Over 10 years ago when I was planning my move to northern Spain once my kids turned 18, I had no idea that so many challenges would arise as the time approached. But sorry to all the angry Spaniards, and Euros, I'm still pushing ahead and I'm sure we will be friends, jajaja, but my Spanish is getting a lot better so I'll be able respond to any snide comments as I get snaked by a local in the surf line up :-)

Interesting name for that restaurant "Simpar" meaning "sin par" having no equal. Not to be confused with "Simpa". "Hacer un simpa" means "sin pagar" or leave a restaurant without paying! "Do a runner" in English.

I listened to bits and pieces in the livestream earlier; back now to watch the whole show. We've got snow in the local mountains (Laguna mountains, San Diego) and 3 degrees Celsius last night! I understand more Spanish than I'd admit too, however I still have trouble with the speed - I need to take another class (Portuguese too). Thank you Stuart.

I don’t believe the numbers anymore. They say the same in Denmark but the “employed” are mostly temps sourced from eastern europe, not locals bound by the social welfare tax structure. But the numbers look good for the current administration.

Similar situation in Ireland. I don’t see any metric being published on the QUALITY of jobs being filled, eg, temporary? Permanent? Average salary? Etc. Gov’s love to play with the numbers and the devil can selectively quote scripture for his own use.

STU! Your videos finally convinced me to make the move and I pulled the trigger on a piso in Bilbao! Getting in under the possible difficulties made by the communist? (I don't know anything about Spanish politics, but I'm slowly learning from your videos) party that's in control. As an American with Basque roots I have dreamed of eventually establishing a homestead in my ancestral country. It took 20 years of hard work, and I finally had enough saved to make the move. Thank you for your informative posts. I look forward to having a few cañitas with you in Madrid even if the croquette won't be the best. 😆

The PSOE is a "fake socialist" party, they just like to keep the big businesses "inside the family", and cover their shady actions under the name of socialism 😉 The PP and VOX are no different, they just use a different "ideology" to justify their shady actions. The main problem with Spain politics is the lack of choices when it comes to vote, there are no good parties, not even a '"not so terrible" one.
