The story begins in the 18th century when 11 Spanish ships were destroyed in a hurricane off the Florida coast. They were sailing from Cuba to Spain. Last month, 300 years to the day since the disaster, a Florida salvage company recovered 350 sunken gold coins. They are worth $4.5 million. 1715 Fleet Queens Jewels co-founder Brent Brisben joins “CBS This Morning” with some of the rare coins.

15% or more was given to the government. The rest was given to the founders. So basically you only say you have like 80 coins and the government will take like 12 of them. But in reality you actually found 150. You save yourself probably well over a million, yet the coins are accounted for and so they will increase in value. As long as the coins are historically accounted for then you ight.

@@m.m.6925 Throughout the world there have been empires and powers that have fought and conquered others throughout the history of humanity, the human being is like that. The same American empires conquered and oppressed smaller and weak tribes, such as the Aztecs or the Incas. In the same way that the European "evildoers" we have suffered more invasions than anyone in history. On the other hand, learn history before speaking, because the Spanish imperial system was one of overseas kingdoms and provinces (like Rome), and not a colonial system like 19th century European imperialism. About the American gold and silver, only 15% went to the king. For some reason viceregal America is so splendid and even today great monuments and architectural works of the viceregal era are preserved in America.

if those coins were made specifically for the King of Spain and were salvaged from a spanish ship then they should pay " the royal fifth " ( spanish tax ) to the current king of spain

I can't fathom someone who finds millions of dollars worth of treasure and then proceeds to flap their jaw to everyone they know including government about what they have just unearthed you will find out real quick how many people think they can get a piece of your pie people take my advice if you find something that is worth 100's of millions of dollars or even all the way down to just a few hundred dollars DON'T TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT! Don't be stupid keep it to yourself only for your family to know about it because it's no one else's business but yours.

Wtf? Hahaha No my friend it belongs to Either Mexico or Cuba. I dont know if there was gold in Cuba so it was most likely Aztec gold melted down into coins and gold bars it was easier to transport. The Spanish were greedy and brutal. They stole all the gold from tenochtitlan! So again that gold belongs to Mexico

@@FernandoGarcia-nz9el More than half of the gold and silver extracted stayed in America to build universities, hospitals, cathedrals, canals, aqueducts, roads, ports, cities, and much more. For a reason, viceregal America was richer and more prosperous than the English colonies of North America, even richer than half of Europe. What happens is that to justify the secessions and the failure in which your republics became, they have put into your head the idea that Spain stole your gold. And they don't tell you that with Spain you were really prosperous. Nor do they tell you that you are poor because the property of the mines in your countries is in the hands of British and North American companies, which are the ones that take the gold and silver from your countries without paying anything, while blaming Spain for your countries are poor. In two years, only from Mexico or Peru more minerals are extracted than everything that Spain extracted in 3 centuries from north to south of the American continent
