The misused big term master and great must be edited out, ppl are just avrg citizens made to follow the rules and laws of others, not such thing as a master / great etc - I am the only Master / Leader etc and all other big terms that reflect greatness and power and superiority!
@FrozenMermaid66610 күн бұрын
Also, it isn’t true that in Spanish words are pronounced as they are spellt, lol, natives tend to be so confused and don’t realize how non-phonetic Spanish is, and even in that example, the j is pronounced h, how is that pronounced as its spellt, that word is literally spellt jardin yet it is pronounced hardin with h sound, so, it is not true at all, Spanish isn’t a phonetic language at all - LL is pronounced ğ / dg and y / i and sh depending on the word and region, B and V are pronounced between a V sound and a B sound, but B is pronounced more towards a V while V is pronounced more towards a B, and ñ is pronounced ni aka diphthong sound with two sounds, Z is pronounced S, G is pronounced like a softer G when between two vowels and like a normal G in some words and like an H when E or i are right after the G, D is pronounced like an eth sound ð / dh / Ð aka a softer and less obvious D when between two vowels, ch is pronounced č and spellt ch with two letters like a diphthong, gui and qui have silent U and are pronounced gi and ki and are technically another type of diphthong for one sound, the C is pronounced S and C depending on the word, H is always silent, while J is pronounced H, and there are plenty of exceptions, as there are in most other European languages! (Nada phonetic about Spanish or other Latin languages, except for some of the vowels, but most consonants are pronounced in different ways, and there are things like diphthongs and letter combinations for certain sounds, so the written words do not look like they sound most of the times!)
@FrozenMermaid66610 күн бұрын
Re the R in flor in Brazilian Portuguese, it is not an H in Brazilian Portuguese, one can clearly hear that there is an R sound in there, not just an H sound - it is one of the softest variations of an H-controlled R, as is the RH sound in Welsh, which is technically a HR with softer R, and, similar variations of the HR also exists in Danish at the beginning of the words usually, which is also related to the harder variations of the HR type of Rs that are used in German and French, which have more R and less H, whereas the Brazilian Portuguese and Welsh variations have less R and more H, but the R is still there, it’s just that it’s more subtle, and, there are actually multiple types of R in Brazilian Portuguese, depending on the word and also depending on the accent / region! (Maybe in some accents the R is pronounced as an actual H, but, in most accents, it is an H-controlled R or more like an R-controlled H!)

Words in French that begin with 'é', or words that contain an 'ô', previously had an 's' attached in old french (without the acute or circumflex accent), such as for example école/escole and hôpital/hospital.
@TheWipeout3210 күн бұрын
About some words in French and Spanish: école, étudiante, and other words were similar in Middle and Old French. That é character (and the ê, as well; think "bête") indications that there was, historically, an "s" that followed the letter, but it got lost. Thus, the Middle and Old French way to read école is "escole," étudiante is "estudiante", and bête is "beste" (think the English "beast.") This was really obvious with words like écureuil, which can also be spelled "escureuil" and which means "squirrel." This is a useful tip for any English speaker trying to understand French. If you see é at the beginning of a word or ê in the middle of a word, try inserting an "s" after it and seeing if what results sounds familiar. It may not always work, but it works more times than not.

As a person who studied 4 Romance languages (Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese), Spanish and Portuguese are the most similar in terms of grammar and vocabulary, but Portuguese R can sound similar (not the same) to French R sometimes, especially when it's spoken in Portugal. I did hear R in Brazil is either the English H sound or the English R sound depending on the region.
@let84925 күн бұрын
Actually the R in Brazil it does have variations depending on the region, but the Portuguese even general and “correct” in fact our “R” officially has 3 sounds 😅 The “H” in English, the R similar to the sound of the French R, but if it is in double dose “rr” as an example: carro/ car, and has the “R” with the same sound that exists in Spanish that “ Rreee” so depending on where the “R” is that he will assume what sound it will have

If you're going to include the Portuguese language in a video, make sure to bring a native speaker. Portuguese has a complex phonetic structure, and unless the girl is from a region with a very unusual accent, her pronunciation sounds more like that of a foreigner who has just started learning Portuguese than that of a native speaker. Sometimes, she adds variations typical of Brazil, sometimes those of Portugal, and her speech always has a hint of Portuñol, which is quite far from standard Portuguese.

This was one of the worst videos I’ve ever seen on this channel. They turned Portuguese into a joke, full of stereotypes. Hardly anyone in Brazil speaks with such an exaggerated lisp and strong "sh" sounds as that girl did. On top of that, she doesn’t even speak proper Portuguese; it sounds more like Portuñol, a mix of Portuguese and Spanish. It would have been much better if they had used a native Portuguese speaker, like Ana or Júlia. I’d even suggest a new title for the video: "French vs Spanish, while mocking the Portuguese language with a Spaniard who doesn’t even speak proper Portuguese." I hate these stereotypes perpetuated by Spaniards. It’s almost as if they hate the Portuguese language. In practically every video where Spanish speakers react to songs featuring both Spanish and Brazilian artists, they exaggerate these stereotypes: the lisp, made-up accents, as if all Brazilians spoke like "Brachiuuuuuu (Brazil)," "vishio (vídeo)," or "direshão (direção)." Honestly, I hated this video so much I gave it a dislike. Whoever made it should be ashamed of posting something like this and of choosing someone who doesn’t even speak real Portuguese. A native speaker would have made all the difference.

Sometimes, Spanish feels like Italian on the way to becoming French, kind of like Dutch feels like German on the way to becoming English. For example, when it comes to consonant reduction, Italian is the most conservative to Latin, French is the most innovative, while Spanish is some where in between. For example, voiceless plosive consonants (C/QU, P, T) weaken to voiced plosive consonants (G/GU, B, D) in Spanish and French, and some times they are fully omitted or replaced with a different consonant in French, while also rearranging, replacing, or omitting the vowels. Examples: Aquilae (Latin) -> Aquila (Italian) -> Águila (Spanish) -> Aigle (French) = Eagle (English) Aqua (Latin) -> Acqua (Italian) -> Agua (Spanish) -> Eau (French) = Water (English) Focus (Latin) -> Fuoco (Italian) -> Fuego (Spanish) -> Feu (French) = Fire (English) Lacrima (Latin) -> Lacrima (Italian) -> Lagrima (Spanish) -> Larme (French) = Teardrop (English) Aperire (Latin) -> Aprire (Italian) -> Abrir (Spanish) -> Ouvrir (French) = Open (English) Sapēre (Latin) -> Sapere (Italian) -> Saber (Spanish) -> Savoir (French) = Know (English) Petra (Latin) -> Pietra (Italian) -> Piedra (Spanish) -> Pierre (French) = Stone (English) Digitus (Latin) -> Dito (Italian) -> Dedo (Spanish) -> Doigt (French) = Finger (English)

I wonder if what happened here is similar to if I was speaking German in one of these videos. I'm pretty sure I could put on a decent accent, but a German from Bavaria would look at my last name, listen to what I was saying, and probably be like, "That's not a Bavarian accent, and he isn't speaking Bavarian German, what's going on here?" I would most likely sound to them like I was Hessian, or Frisian, or maybe from Berlin, as these are the most common German accents Americans would hear. English has so many accents and different ways of saying things it's ridiculous. We are able to adapt to listening to people who speak English as a second language. It is always very impressive when people learn to speak multiple languages. Perhaps it would have worked better if the Spanish lady had been more self-effacing when characterizing her knowledge of Portuguese and make us all aware of where her exposure to it came from. When someone is from the UK, US, Ireland, Singapore, India, Australia, etc., we're all prepared for the variations and understand that the totality of it encompasses what defines English.
