hey roy, thanks for bringing this to my attention, i have pinned so other can be aware too. I think its good that some servers are banning this. I believe the buried turrets are not good gameplay but i must advise based on current game mechanics and not on rules put in place by some admins. I sincerely hope Eleon implement LOS targeting rules for turrets in the future so it can be fixed for good. For now however and based on vanilla rule sets, this is likely what you will come up against in PVP and so hopefully this will help people.

The SFS Nodachi is an excellent ship. Not only pvp ready but looks good doing it. I will reveal some things about my ship used in our last duel. My turrets were not really burried in the nose this time. Instead they were deep embedded and facing down to shoot ground targets. However I did have thrusters and other things buried in the nose to attract fire. I had 11 generators and 7 of them survived due to spacing them out as you show in this video. However I had some next to my warp drive which was a mistake and my ability to retreat was destroyed.

Usualy, PVP players prefer to keep their little secrets ^^ It is really kind from your part to share tips . it really helps new players like i am (i started the game at alpha 8.0). A lot of thanks :)

A lot of these tips are very relevant to PVE design philosophy now too..maybe even more so. Especially with Eleon upping the ante on POI and mob strengths, these are points to keep in mind for all combat builds ☺ The main one I hadn't figured out was the glitch armour..I had taken damage to internals in PVE with no obvious missing blocks ..was trying to figure out why...now I know ☺ Thanks Again ☺

Yeah, I'm building/planning my own pvp cv right now for alpha 10. Didn't play since Alpha 2. Your video is the only one that is usefull, so thanks for that! I lately found an armor composition that weighs a little less than two combat steel blocks, but holds double the amount of pointed artillery shots. If you wanna try it, take truss block, combat steel pyramide, truss block, xeno block, truss block, xeno block. That is what I will use for my lag shot armor. Didn't make shooting tests on the new block types, but some of them could be interesting, because pyramides do more plain damage to more blocks (sorry if I'm using wroong words, am no native speaker).

Only principal critique is that only half your turrets can fire on target most of the time. Due to tracking movement, and lag, you aren't likely to get more than 50% full weapons on target. IMO, I feel that top heavy weapons with a couple guns mounted in the front underbelly is the better option (not to mention it keeps you from getting banned for burying turrets behind blocks). Keep the enemy in front and above you and a top heavy weapons load out is primo.

im experimenting with NERA applique armor for CVs, im building armor bricks from SVs to stick on CVs over weak spots and windows. the idea is partially to trick turrets into shooting the SV not the CV, but to also simply add more armor mass to a block. a 4 by 6 by 3 design will fit roughly on 1 block, meaning they will have to get through 3 or 4 extra blocks minimum just to hit the CV armor at all. the goal with HV varients is to add functioning atmospheric weapons to a CV without sacrificing heavier weapons to do so.

I want to build an sv with lagshot armour in mind. Question: can I add multiple layers of armoured windows and use them as lagshot armour?(im not a huge fan of 3rd person view with a boxed in cockpit - feels less immersive).

Update to this video, confine lag shot to one layer or it causes lag ironically. multiple layers of windows do also work as lag shot.

You don't need to use those 2 gatling turrets... you can use pvp sentry turrets they work exactly the same and use less space ;) (yes I know this was 2yrs ago but it worked then also.)

Yes exactly. all turrets, player or alien will target the nearest thing they can shoot.

Uhm, one thing i noticed about your warpdrive, It seemed to be alone? If you got swarmed from behind by a group of heavily armed SVs, then all the fueltanks in the rear looked like a chainreaction waiting to happen. Do you have rear facing turrets?

The tanks shouldnt chain react if there is a block between them, if something gets behind the ship you might get in trouble, that why i suggest this is a CV vs CV design only really. Other PVP design types are the ones where the turrets have full coverage.

Apple is pretty poor when it comes to performance, but I brought my Mac almost ten years ago, and have yet to have a single problem with it; anything to do with Windows on the other hand... Although I have to admit that Apple has pretty much killed any faith I had for the brand over the last two years, at least when it come to their newer products.

Macs a good if you dont have high performance needs, dont have compatibility concerns, or don't know much about computers. My macs always seemed good in college, but they shat out on me quite quickly. Haven't looked back since building my PC. I think if you build your own and get quality parts you dont have to worry about "typical windows issues."

1. class size is too big 2.deco=pve and class size increase 3. thruster to expose easily to shoot out. 4. warp drive is easy to shoot out 5. this ship will not fit in most pvp server since class size are typically class 5

I'm not super great at designing from scratch, but I love modifying created ships to my preference. whether it be an upgrade in combat, more functionality, add a new hanger etc. Point is people have different reasons for enjoying the game. I like reverse engineering and upgrading. I'd like to create my own but I'm currently far from that in regard to skill.

This is not a good pvp ship. Even for last year. No wonder the other guy won. Your CV has alot of devices you dont need which cost alot on the counts for the size class. Lights, flares, lcd screens, constructors, decos etc cost alot of size class. If you face an enemy with the same size class but he invested more on armor and weapons instead of useless devices then he will obviously win. I made pvp cv which has class size 7 and it has 3 times more armor than this size class 10 cv

keep in mind spanj is a decorative builder, having it look nice is important to him. whats nice about this ship, for us newbies that still havent figured out poi raiding, it gives us a starting idea of how to build general combat vessels. i dont intend to pvp yet, and it looks really nice so i wanna use some of his build ideas, so having something that can at least raid is valuable

I think it's important to point out that this is what PVPers are doing to their ships, highlighting it to everyone and getting people talking about it will hopefully lead to something actually being done about it. Until it is though, more people will now know how elitist PVPers are exploiting game mechanics to win. The Nodachi is freely available on the workshop so people can reverse engineer it and figure out how to defeat it and ships built with the same principles. If you watched the video then I wouldn't have to explain this to you. But thank you for leaving the comment because it tells me that maybe i need to adjust the title or opening minutes of the video to better explain its purpose.
